Hello! Yesterday our neighbor with a garden gave us some vegtables from her garden. One of the things she gave us was Zucchini, I was wondering if piggies could eat Zucchini.

They might not like it, my piggies turned their spoilt little noses up at it because they expected it to be cucumber!

Yes, guinea pigs can eat zucchini/courgette. But most don't seem to like it.

Suprisingly they loved it 😯. But i am introducing them to it slowly since it is a new vegtable too them.

Especially Archie because he has never had veggies before. And Alfie is very picky 😅

There is no accounting for taste... Guinea pigs are such individualists!

Courgette (UK)/zucchini (US) is related to the cucumber.

Just a quick question, do any of you know how often zuchini can be fed?

Google says it can be fed a few times a week...because most guinea pigs we know won't touch it this is actually a relatively rare question lol. Blitzen, who would eat pretty much everything else, gave it a nibble and then gave me that look he'd perfected like "you're having a laugh, where's the real stuff".

Mine ate it once, and then never again. But I’d say a slice every couple of days should be fine.

Haha, I guess mine are strange piggies! I'm surprised people
are saying most piggies hate zuchini/courgette because Alfie and Archie took to it as soon as i gave them each slices 😅

It's honestly one of only two things Blitzen ever refused to eat. Usually he'd eat something and six months later Comet would decide he'd eat it too, because he was losing a good chunk of his dinner over it. But courgette...nope. I even tried them with baby courgette instead to see if that would help (it's how they got started on cucumber anyway). I wonder if piggies have a thing about textures of the food they're eating as much as we do, and courgette's kinda soft and squishy.

Yea, it could be textures too. And I love how you have reindeer piggy names

Mine would only ever touch the round ones, which I had to order online, especially for them XD then I figured id just do what I do with most food and just feed it until they realise its food! Now it's pretty much a favourite with all 11, I give it to them a couple of times a week.
