Hello! As some of you will know my son started to build a cage but then we both became ill.. typical. Anyway, cage production has started again only we're doing it a step at a time, my son has never made anything like this so obviously gets slightly frustrated when something messes up, if we do it one step at a time it should go right..

Right so this is the list of things I've bought for the cage with prices, some rough prices.

2 sheets of 25mm MDF - £60

2 sheets of 4mm perspex - £41.36

3 rolls of no nails - £11.85

Aquarium sealant and gun - £8.32

4 wheels - £4.97

4 Ikea Adils legs - £9

3 sheets of Melamine board - £40.38

Edging tape - £4.20

Fablon - £8.99

Bolts and penny washers - £1.99

So step one: Adils leg's from Ikea have a screw foot so you can raise and lower if needed, so I've removed them and have taken out the fixtures they screw into as seen on the pic.

Step Two - My son attached the table leg plates to the MDF which will be the top tier of the cage.

Step Three - Drill holes on base MDF - Haven't taken a picture of that

Step Four - Cover both sheets of MDF with Fablon (Plastic that is sticky on one side, be aware that this stuff stinks so if you have odour sensitivity like me, take care and also it took both myself and my son to stick the fablon on).

Step Five - Attached screw feet that I took off in step one.

That's it for now. Hopefully tomorrow my son will be putting the wheels on the base :)

Sorry to hear you've both been ill. Look forward to seeing pictures of the cage when it's finished it's looking really good, you are both very clever. Bet the piggies are going to love it.

looks good so far :tu:

i need to get a sheet of wood for the base of the new cage i'm building but it's quite hard to find one online.

Oh looking good! Exciting times :-)

And I love the fablon, mine is just pine effect lol

It's going to look great when done!

Oooh exciting times! It's frustrating when projects are put on hold, but it's great that it's moving on again :) x

Cage is going to be at a stand still until I get more wood, I didn't get enough :/ Just about to order some more though.
