Hi All,

I am looking to purchase some new sort of cage liner for my non- C &C enclosure. So far, I have been using cotton reusable pee mats from K Mart, an though they work OK, they don't clean thoroughly and get mouldy easily. I know many who rave about fleece liners, but it's obviously a little tricky to find one's that fit nicely when I don't have a C&C cage. They are also very, very expensive. On the other hand, I also know that it is common to use toggle bath mats, which would be much more accessible to me.

So my questions are: Do toggle bath mats work? Do you recommend them? And do you wash your toggle mats in the machine?

Also: Are there a certain brand of toggle mats that anyone may recommend?

Thank you!

The bath mats work and I have several different brands. They do still need cage liners underneath though. I don't use one cage sized liner, I have several smaller ones from amazon. This is good for partial changing and much kinder for the washing machine. All piggies laundry goes into a pet wash bag to contain the inevitable hay. The bath mats get changed every other day and the liners (depending on the location and the pig) last 5 to ten days.
It is a lot of money at first but then you don't have ongoing expense. I appreciate that I'm in a different country but I've attached links Screenshot_2023-10-26-16-36-13-46_b5f6883d2c20a96c53babc0b4ac88108.webpScreenshot_2023-10-26-16-34-24-38_b5f6883d2c20a96c53babc0b4ac88108.webpfor the liners I use.

I love the toggle bath mats. I have them on top of my fleece liners. I’m in the uk so not sure what brands you’d have where you are. Just make sure they don’t have the rubber/non slip backs. I change them every 2 days. I shake them off in the garden and then put them in horse wash bags to save the washing machine. They dry really quickly.

Does the washing machine handle the hair OK?

Here are my liners

The photo is from when they were in a hutch in my garage.

Then they moved into the house with fleece liners and bobble mats

Thanks for the replies.

I have found some toggle mats, is this material OK?

Polyester and styrene ethylene butylene styrene (SEBS) backing

I use noodle mats with puppypads underneath for absorbency. They wash easily and dry quickly.i have three in a 140cm x70cm cage.
Ive just started using them, with a recommendation of another forum member.I'm finding them much easier than fleece liners.
You can shake the hay off these mats easily.

I think they shouldn't have a rubber style backing, just cloth. The rubber backing probably disintegrates with wear and holds moisture, makes them less breathable. Good luck with your hunt.
