Not sure if this is the right section? Does anyone have any recommendations for GP boarding near the Milton Keynes area? Hubby and I are planning a week away in the next few weeks. Of course with dignified Sir George and mischievous Master Boris being spoilt boys and needing the best care we can get, we are willing to travel a certain distance.
@AidaB , I know you are local, have you used any?

I can’t really help sorry. Our lovely guinea pig boarding place, they have been fantastic, will no longer be taking boarders at the end of this year. (3 days left!). I did go and visit a few new places.
Hop, skip & bunk in Northampton was lovely, we haven’t used them yet, neither have we booked a holiday yet for next year! Karen was very understanding & is also close to C&R clinic should a vet trip be needed.

I would definitely recommend going to visit places before booking- I had a few unexpected surprises at other places despite positive sounding emails.

The boys have just had a week away with us, instead of boarding over Christmas.

I was just looking at skittering pig who seem to be connected to TEAS

I can highly recommend Hop, Skip and Bunk! Karen has amazing facilities for the piggies. Boarding for your pampered Rabbits and Guinea Pigs.

I do offer boarding at TEAS, but it is usually for long distance, post op piggies, of the Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic.

My biggest concern is that they might fall out when not free roaming. They honestly don't spend much time out of the cage though and it's usually as a piggy follow the leader anyway.

We always used Hop Skip and Bunk. My piggies are booked with them end of Jan next year. We like boarding there because they have huge enclosures for the piggies (size is around the same as 5x2 or 6x2 c&c with a loft), which is amazing for my free roaming monsters, and they use fleece bedding too. They do have Ferplast cages too for those who prefer them. Another advantage is it's near Cat & Rabbit so in case there's a health problem, they can see Simon and Kim. Karen also regularly post photos of the boarders.

Here are some photos of when Bryce and Vegas (when she was still alive and we haven't adopted Whitney yet) stayed there March 2022. You can check their Facebook page for more photos of their enclosures.

I used Skittering Pigs in Northampton when I had to take Winifred to the Cat & Rabbit clinic for surgery the day before going away for a family funeral. Julia collected her and Rosemary after the surgery. I don't know how big her cages are though as I didn't have time to stop and visit when I collected them after their stay there.

@anyar.dris , do you know if hop skip and bunk have any hammocks? I know it's a stupid question but the beastie boys prefer hammocks to anything else!

They used to have a hammock when my piggies Rocky, Sierra and Vegas stayed with her in 2020. But this was when her enclosures were C&Cs. Now it's made of wood and not sure if Karen still uses them. You can ask her. You can always bring your boys' hammocks if you want. We always bring cardboard boxes for my piggies because they love boxes they can chew (shown in the photos below). On January, I'm bringing a couple of the fleece beds too that Bryce loves because he's such a baby. 😂

We often take something from home, as it smells ”right” for the boys and helps them settle in. Either a favourite bed or a slightly used smaller fleece pad when our boys go boarding. We have even taken hay cubes for them in the past!

Do phone/email Karen at Hop, Skip and Bunk, she was very happy for us to go and look around, and it would likely make you feel more at ease about leaving your boys.

I was already planning on taking something "smelly" . I will be checking everyone I'm seriously considering properly. If they think I'm being over the top then I already know it's the wrong place for my precious boys.
We are also always over the top whenever we board the piggies. 😂 I ask them to weigh the piggies too every couple days. Karen also handled my sick piggies in the past. 👍

Karen loves showing potential clients all her facilities! I think you’ll be very happy with her set up x
