Bladder stone

Is there a way to help her heal after surgery? Will using fleece after surgery instead help? I'm not sure how to help her heal.

It’s ok to be worried. Fingers crossed she will be okay after surgery and back to her sprightly self in good time.

Is this normal? She is recovering from surgery and we are keeping a close eye on her in her own little recovery nest and caught her doing this.

Sorry I can’t see what you mean...what is it she’s doing?

I’m sure it’s fine. How did surgery go and did she eat quickly after coming round?

I'm not sure what to write right now, a lot has happened. Right now she is at the vet getting oxygen and getting another operation

Vets won't give a lot of information and I don't know what to do

Did you have to take her in again then? Sorry. Hopefully the vet will be in touch to explain further.

I'm sorry to say that Popi died yesterday. We noticed yesterday that her condition was rapidly deteriorating and took her to the vet for an emergency operation. She stopped breathing before the operation could even start. The vet tried to get her to breath but then her heart stopped. We are all in shock of how fast it happened and are grieving. Right now, I blame myself for not getting her there sooner and hate the fact that I let this happen to her. She was only 3 and just adds to the guilt.

Goodnight little Popi

Aw I’m so sorry for your loss :( Please don’t blame yourself, there’s nothing you could have done. Take time to grieve

Sleep tight Popi xx

I am so sorry for your loss.

I agree with Claire, you mustn’t blame yourself.
Popcorn free Popi

So sorry you lost her. But please take heart that it wasn’t anything to do with you. Piggies have a habit of hiding their illnesses and can go downhill fast. She was loved and that’s the important thing 💓

Thanks, I just feel bad for Ziuta. She isn't being herself and is very cuddly right now. I'm not sure how to take care of a bereaved guinea pig, and I don't know if I'm ready for another guinea pig

We definitely are considering a new friend, but I don't want to go through what I did with Popi again

:agr: And was typing something very similar myself.
Ziuta will appreciate a new friend when the time is right for you all

I think Ziuta has come to terms with the fact that Popi wasn't herself, this photo was taken yesterday morning and when Popi was still alive. Ziuta was squealing for Popi after she died and was looking around, but I think now she knows she won't come back

Sad for her. Do be aware they probably bounce back Quicker than us. You’re welcome to post a thread in the rainbow bridge section, when you feel up to it. 💕

How can I tell it will be the right time? I want her to be ready,

Their grieving period can be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. If she is otherwise happy, eating, maintaining her weight, then you can wait a little longer before finding a friend.
@Siikibam has linked in the ‘looking after a bereaved guinea pig’ guide in the post above, so do give that a read as it’ll give you some useful information
