Well if we just make our way promptly and bag an area asap that's all we can do, hope there's enough room lol!

We will get there about 7:00am can pop in for breakfast and make a nest..
They don't open until 8! Well probably find you fast asleep on the chairs outside!
*prod* wakey wakey :))

@katanamoon and @VickiA can you get there early? :))

Not sure we can live up (or down) to the reputation you've given us @Tim but I'm not averse to a bit of team working to clear the area - I'm sure @katanamoon has ninja powers and we can but try. Otherwise the hot seat /tag team system will just have to apply for food ordering like last time.

:D
The looks we got when they had about 20 orders for a table of 4 :))
If it's nice enough like it has been today, well take over the beer garden :tu: :D

I like this! Team work!

I'm helping a friend with a fundraiser stall for animal rescue in the morning - will pop over for a drink in the afternoon as be nice to see everyone but I'm really not a fan of crowded pubs & that one gets very over crowded so might not stay too long.

One idea for future meet ups is I could probably arrange to book the meeting room at friends of the earth in central Birmingham. Would only be a small fee and can take own food/drinks. Another option is a real ale pub called the Wellington - it's often possible to hire their upstairs room out - seats 30-40 and can buy drinks downstairs & take your own food - or can order fab pizza delivery from Mr Singhs pizza to be delivered there.
Just an idea but might be an option as by the sound of it we might be getting too big a group for a pub where you can't reserve an area/seating.

Oh & if any veggies/vegans are going there's a vegan shop in Allison street - if anyone's wanting any vegan cakes, bakes, vegan cheese & onion crisps, wagon wheels, etc I can ask the owner to get more in for Saturday.

You're right, we're getting a bit full on for a regular pub, defo something to consider for the next one! I particularly like the second option as long as it's just as local x

We're going. Is it the one near the Warehouse cafe?.

I know the guy who run the welly so that is an idea, why didn't I think of that!?

It is about the same distance in the opposite direction, very easy to find :)

That's alright then, keeps it simple :) we should look into it for next time, presuming it's too short notice for this week?

Probably. We don't want people turning up the The Dragon then finding out we're somewhere else. A good plan for next time as it's one of my favourite pabs! :D
Nigel Barker who runs/owns the welly is a smashing bloke and an animal lover as well. There is a pub puddycat that shows his face from time to time :)

Bring. It. ON! Haha :D

Yes that's the one - next door/underneath the Warehouse. If he knows more people are going he orders more in - he gets orders from a company called Krulls in Coventry a co operative that's all veggie/vegan. Pies, pasties, wraps and a lovely very sweet Bakewell. Vegan Grindhouse have just started supplying cakes & fudge & there's a fridge - sometimes Whilmsberger cheese (not sure of correct spelling there)

I had thought of going via Mr Singhs in West Brom for lunch first but if you guys are going to the Warehouse lunchtime? I could head there instead?

I was thinking for future meet ups - know Brum veggie/vegan groups have met there on Saturday afternoons even had cake competitions there raising money for animal sanctuaries. . The pub even supply plates, cutlery if we wanted to bring food or to order in and the pub downstairs has a nice drinks menu including local ales and Lyme Bay wines. Really friendly pub - one of my faves in Brum.
In theory given time to organise there's plenty of tables to set up a tombola/raffle/cake sale in aid of TEAS. If its a fundraiser meet up and we buy drinks there I'm sure Nigel would let us use upstairs for free. Only an idea for next time as know everyone's use to the Dragon pub but if we need more space it could be ideal.

Atleast 15 ales to choose from, that'll do me! :D

Just seen an advert for the Welly and it says 18 real ales and 145 whiskers from around the world! Also bring your own food - plates and cutlery provided.

And .... New roof terrace and bar!

There's a beer board that is constantly changing, you order by the number, not the name. Their Purity Mad Goose is awesome :)

The Wellington would be great as we would have our own area.... Too late to change do you think though? @Tim could you sound him out for future and see if he would want some money to heir room?

I'd hate to think of someone turning up at the Dragon if we had all moved to the Wellington! I did wonder if the upstairs room might be free this Saturday afternoon though - if its booked its not usually until the evening so a 2-6 slot could be ideal for us there. In reality it could really work for meet ups as I know some would prefer it as quieter and would be just us there (know I feel that way as I'm not a fan of big crowded city centre pubs myself)

In terms of future meet ups if meeting later in the year I'd advise avoiding from mid November as once the German markets on Saturdays in town are pretty much no go as is New Street station! I doubt you'd get the 5 min walk from New St to the Wellington done in under an hour!
