Well, today is my 24th birthday and I am away in London visiting my family.
I get a text from OH at half 8 that wakes me up and tells me he had found Pancake and Jellybean dead.
I can't even say goodbye and I swear you aren't meant to be heartbroken on your birthday. I can't even do a proper Rainbow Bridge thread for them because I'm not there to take pictures of the trinkets he's going to give them from the draw and he's no good at writing, so if there is a note, I wouldn't be able to read it so put what it says either.
He's going to take Phantom, their cagemate to the vet and see if they can find anything wrong with her. This is the same thing that happened with Pancake and Jellybean's mum and dad: Rasher and Caramel. One day fine, the next - gone!
I can't make them tribute pictures either, I didn't get my graphics program from my dad to put back on the laptop after it died. I can't do anything and I can't say goodbye! I don't think I can take the heartbreak anymore. Wanting more pigs will always be the case, but I can't keep going through this all the time. I've been so busy sorting out this last minute trip to London, I've not had a chance to introduce the new sow we have and now, I'm too sad and am thinking maybe we should give her back before we're attached to her as well - how awful is it, to think like that?! Her name is Bounty - I'll do her, her own thread later on in the guinea pig chat section.
--- Since I can't write the note they'll take with them, I want to write my own goodbye on here ---
Rest in peace, beautiful, tame, cuddly Pancake and shy, very vocal little Jellybean... We were so worried about you when you were born but you managed to hold on and become gorgeous adult piggies.
Pancake, you were such an affectionate and mischievous little boy and Jellybean, with those cheeky little, staring beady eyes, we will never forget either of you.
I'll always have the image of you, Pancake, grabbing the jingly ball with your teeth, shaking it like a little doggy, chucking it to the other end of the cage, running after it and doing it again... and when I was hand rearing you as babies, giving you the milk on those little paper plates.
You were both very special to us and I know that Phantom will miss you both as well. You both made a lot of friends while you were with us. Pancake, Baby and Marble will miss you as well and Jellybean, you spent a brief time with the herd, so Coconut, Cinnamon, Marble, Toffee and Baby are going to miss you.
Please look after each other at the Bridge - you'll soon see your mum Caramel, dad Rasher, brother Cocoa and sister Cotton as well as friends; Sooty-Pig, Brandy-Snap and Biscuit. Please keep each other company until we are reunited one day - there won't be a day we don't miss you, I can promise you that.
We will always love you both xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
