Could this be urine scald? My 5 year old piggie had quite a few health problems that we saw a vet about in Feb including swollen kidneys and A URI, he was all better after meds, but the last few days he's been covered in wee when I've picked him up, I've read this could be an UTI. I'm going to bath the area daily and spot pick his cage twice daily. If it doesn't improve I'll call my vets. However when bathing him I noticed this bald patch on his back leg. Does anyone think it's related?
Thank you

You are probably sic of hearing these words but you will have to being him to the vet and maybe after give him a nice bath too clean him up

You should go to the vet first rather than bathe and see how he is. Prompt treatment for any potential problem makes all the difference. The bald patch could be caused by anything - urine scald, self barbering due to pain in the area etc. we would only be guessing.

Ok. Thought someone might recognise it on here, and save me a trip. I guess not, thanks anyway

We aren’t vets so can’t diagnose anything so we may recognise things but they could actually be caused by number of underlying issues which only a hands on vet check will be able to diagnose

Send an email to the vet and follow it up with a call. If possible, wipe him rather than bath him daily. It strips away their natural oils which will lead to dry skin. What bedding is he on?

Thanks for your kind reply, please be sure I'm not trying to get out of going to a vet if I need to- would just rather not go if I could have helped it, I'll call my vets tomorrow- think they're doing telephone appointments. He's on half fleece, half shavings/hay, but terms to sit in the shavings. I've been putting him in a shallow sink daily, he's very wiffy of wee and I'm concerned he'll attract flies when he's out on the grass (he lives inside). I never thought about the natural oils though....
