Bad Pet Shop Ripon!

whilst on holiday in Yorkshire Dales popped in to Ripon and as usual went in to pet shops fond one just off the market square called 'The Pet Shop' and discovered guinea pigs for sale in 3ft square glass cases with lights in each run with no hutch or igloo and in both (2 of them) runs where 2 guineas and one rabbit apparently same sex! is this legal? is their any legal minimum requirement or is it just one of those 'good practise' thingys that every one ignores?

Ahhh thats bad :tickedoff: You are not aloud to house rabbits with guinea pigs no more i dont think as its cruel and 3 in a small run is too sick to think about :-\

Sunshine was in similar when I got him, just had to take him out of that situation! Horrible, something should be done, no point reporting the RSPCA don't want to know!

store owners dont care cos theres always plenty more and the rspca dont care cos they rather save yorkshire terriers and kittens cos they make better ads for tv... :-\

i honestly would love to know how people let this kinda thing happen, it sick! :tickedoff:

someone on here reported a shop to the rspca and the inspector said there wasnt anything wrong in keeping guineas and bunnies together, at least i think that was the story lol I'm sure i'll be corrected if it isnt..

just goes to show how much the rspca actually care when their inspectors have the wrong information :-\

Good Pet Shop Ripon!

I would just like to say, I took over the Pet Shop in November 2012, and can assure everyone that we do not, and never will be housing guinea pigs with rabbits.
I am most definitely a guinea pig lover, and have enjoyed keeping my own little pigs for many many years. Anyone is most welcome in my shop at anytime, and you will see either a couple of guineas, or a couple of rabbits housed seperately, with fresh veg, toys, a hideaway house and hay at all times.

Ok as you can see it was posted 5 years ago and the new owner has asked ofr me to remove this thread Which i am very happy to do! as it does turn up 3rd from top when i googled Ripon Pet shops!
This is A Previous owner and as she says Jane is a big GP supporter!
