Baby guinea pig falling over onto side.

Could spud have an ear infection? My boy became paralyzed with one.
I did read this and considered it when I saw that he had wobbled over. But his tummy is quite enlarged which makes me think it is more related to that. The vet seemed to think his enlarged tummy is pinching a nerve somewhere. Was your boy OK after the ear infection?

Yes, he started walking after a week on the right antibiotics. He has calcified bulla syndrome, though, so he has relapsed once and could again. For now he is good and I'm just praying he stays healthy.

I am so sorry for your loss poor little Spud be kind to yourself as you grieve.
Popcorn happily little guy 🌈

Oh no, I'm so sorry! He had a happy life with you and his piggy friend, however long it was for.
It was probably a genetic issue that you couldn't have done anything about.
RIP little Spud, over the Rainbow Bridge 🌈❤️

Just to let you know that sadly we had to say goodbye to little spud 😪 he was such a lovely boy

BIG HUGS

I am so very sorry. Whatever he had, it was sadly really major and in areas where the odds are not usually the best in the first place. Not your fault at all; you have done everything a good owner should and have not failed Spud in any way. It was just one of the random short short straws in the cosmic lottery of bad luck that can happen to anyone at any age.

Try to be kind with yourself. Strong feelings of guilt and failure are characteristic for the onset of the grieving process and are an expression of how much you care (as humans are wired to reflect everyting back onto themselves) and not that you have actually done something wrong.
