yes i agree with PP the name guinea pig came from when they first came to this country you could buy them for a guinea! and pig came into the name due to them squealing like a piglets when man handled, well that is what is in the Peter Gurney book( i not really a big head 88)) ;D

Yeah because my friend just asked me, and I'm sure 'GUINEA PIG' is just a common name as they are from south america, make the same noises-ish as pigs and are foragers.
