Are Aroma Diffusers safe for Guinea Pigs?

Does anyone know if these plug in oil diffusers are safe to use in the same room as Guinea Pigs?
We love our pigs very much, but they have ended up in the middle of our open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen, (instead of our hallway which was intended) and whilst we change all the fleeces etc a couple times a week they do wiff a bit, so we were looking for any 'distracting' fragrances!
Thank you!

Please don’t use these in the same space as the piggies as they are very sensitive the strange chemical smells. Can you buy some dried lavender instead and place it in a bowl where you enter the room, or change the fleeces a little more often?

Thank you! I kind of thought this would be the case, but just wanted to check all the same. Thank you for your reply!

I wouldn’t use any pathing like that near my piggies either. They have such sensitive noses and chests I’d be worried about them being irritated by a plug in diffuser.

Guinea pigs have a very small respiratory system that is also a lot more sensitive than ours. There is also the problems that they have a different metabolism and can react differently to substances than humans.

Please refrain from using any scents and perfumes in the room guinea pigs are in (that also includes, scent sticks and scented air fresheners). Some piggies can even react very strongly to skin products of yours.

I'm thinking of putting a big lavender plant in a pot near mine to cover smell a bit

Also do be aware that depending on your guinea pigs they often go a bit crazy scent marking everything after a full cage clean.
I found our cages were getting smelly very quickly when I changed everything a few times a week, but since then I try to keep the liners in for a week - 10 days and just change small pads in high smell areas daily.
This keeps the cage smelling of them, and makes them less likely to go on a scent marking frenzy.

Great suggestion, makes a lot of sense, thank you!
We changed from straw to fleece a while ago thinking the fleece would be easier and less smelly, but I'm not sure which I think is better or worse anymore!
As they are now right in the middle of our living area, I worry that my family are becing a bit nose blind to them (although I do still notice their wiff!) and that our visitors must notice the smell so much more!

Sounds crazy but readigrass can make the room smell so nice! Don’t give the pigs too much, but even a small amount can make the room smell really good, the pigs will probably really enjoy it too. I’ll admit I’ve gone a bit nose-blind to any smells the pigs produce, but my mum can complain about it a fair bit - she says readigrass is the only smell she doesn’t mind as it’s quite nice.

I agree with Little Ones suggestion of readigrass, I love the smell although my pigs love it a bit too much. I stuff a piggy safe ball full of it and then plug the hole with hay, that way they can't eat it all at once. Creates some really funny moments of ball tossing too when they get frustrated at trying to get at the readigrass.

Thank you for your advice, I will definitely look in to it, much appreciated!
