Appetite loss, mystery problem

Just got home- with lots of meds 💖 this vet thinks it is breathing related and hopefully just an infection 🤞🤞 her tests have been moved to this Friday and she has gut stimulants (because she's eating very little by herself), more recovery food because we are going through so much, metacam (been injected and can use at home from tomorrow) and baytril incase it is an infection, then if she hasn't improved by Friday she will go in for the tests 😬 everything crossed 🤞 I'm so glad I called the vets and didn't wait it out 💖

Wishing you all the best! Good that you could be seen promptly.

Good luck. Glad you got in at the vets sooner. Sending healing vibes to Flower. ❤️

You’ve done the best thing by going earlier and fingers crossed Flower will improve x

Thankyou 💖 I'm feeling better just knowing she has some treatment, I asked about her heart and fingers crossed the vet thinks it's unlikely since her heart sounds fine 🤞

Well done on getting her seen so quickly. Let’s hope the treatment starts to work and she feels a little better soon.

It sounds like you have a great vet and a good plan moving forwards.
Come on Flower - we are cheering for your from Switzerland.

So sorry to hear beautiful Flower hasn’t been well bless her, glad you got her into the vets and you’ve got meds to hopefully help. Massive healing vibes and hugs from us lot, really hope you see some improvement with her today :hug:xx

Thankyou 💖 I don't want to jinx anything but already she is like a different pig! 😍 She actually came out for a little evening veg and showed some of her usual sass at her latest syringe feed instead of looking weak she was grabbing the syringe for more! I don't know whether it's the metacam injection, gut stimulants or antibiotics but I have everything crossed something seems to be working already! 💖🤞🤞

Great news! :hug:Go gorgeous Flower giving your sass!
Hope you both have a good night and she keeps on scoffing, so glad she’s feeling a bit better ❤️ xx

Flower says:
Cisapride- yuck
Baytril- double yuck
Metacam- meh
Emeraid/recovery food - yum yum yum!
A certain little piggy ran away from being picked up for the first time in nearly a week! I can't say I ever thought I'd be stupidly happy at chasing a piggy round the cage for medicine but I really am! 😁 Her breathing is still sucky but I'm hopeful the antibiotics will kick in soon, her weight is stable at 588g and she no longer looks completely zapped so we are cautiously celebrating the small victories 💪 😁 she's such a good girl taking all those yucky meds! 💖

So good to hear she is taking the Emeraid. Mine all love it. Hopefully her poop output will increase as shes's continuing with food through her guts and the gas is being dispersed. I hope that the antibiotics soon help with her breathing, too. But always good to hear she's got a bit of fight in her. Poorly piggies do not run away from you.

Thankyou 💖 i have never felt such relief at seeing a piggy move away 😂 it makes the past almost week of constant syringe feeding totally worth it! It's great to see she has enthusiasm about the syringe food now too where as before she was just doing the motions of letting me put a little in for her to swallow she's now properly grabbing at the syringe 💖 we do have to take regular breaks to let her breathe as the crackling seems to get worse when she's eating but I'm hopeful this will improve when the antibiotics kick in fully and she'll be able to eat more by herself too (and if it doesn't she'll have a chest x Ray Friday to rule anything more serious out!) but just seeing her have some energy about her feels like winning the lottery! And her companions have been amazing, nugget has guarded her and groomed her all weekend and at evening veg yesterday mal and caramel actually gave her noses up the bum to push her towards food 😂 it always warms my heart seeing companions care for a poorly piggy 💖

So little miss flower 🌸 is back to giving me a right scare! She seemed to get better on the treatment to the point her tests were cancelled then had a wobble Friday morning but had perked right up by the vet trip that day! Then Saturday night had a wobble till Monday morning then was seemingly fine till last night when she really started to scare me! She's been doing horrendous breathing overnight and eating less syringe feed but you can see how hard she's trying! She's been hospitilised for fluids and a nebuliser as it sounds like there's some snot or something on her chest 😩

Aw so sorry, just when she was doing so well. Hoping she makes a good recovery, sending hugs, it’s hard when they are poorly x

Poor you and Flower! I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed for her!

Sorry to hear she’s still giving you concern. Get well soon little one x

Really hope gorgeous Flower is doing a bit better today, so sorry when she’s been doing so well bless her. Massive hugs from us lot ❤️ xx

Flower came home Tuesday night a completely different piggy! The nebuliser definitely helped and the bisolvon stuff, going to get her a nebuliser for home incase it happens again (vet thinks she could have some weird form of piggy asthma or something) felt like a right muppet because apparently aside from her breathing she'd been fine all day 🤣 (piggies!) she really scared me during the night though her breathing wasn't great at all and she seemed so weak when if was happening her little ears were cold at one point 😳 Wednesday morning for the first time in 2 weeks she wheeked a tiny snuffly wheek for food and was right there at the front of the cage 😍 I almost cried with relief 😌 she's still very crackly but that hopefully means it's clearing and she's eating by herself 🤞🤞 OK flower 🌸 no more scares now! Mummy is a nervous wreck!

All the best! I would certainly continue with the nebulising until the crackling has gone!

Flower passed away at 04:02am, I'm not ready to talk about the full details but we contacted the vets saturday and they advised to continue with bisolvon and steaming and wait out the 'flare up'. Heartbroken doesn't even come close 💔

I’m so sorry to hear this. Sending you huge hugs
Thankyou I haven't beeen to sleep, the second time in a year this has happened! I never want to watch another natural piggy death ever! If it wasn't for the fact I had no transport andd sleeping children I wouldve done emergency vets for pts! Thankfully she didn't do any of the things on the emergency pts list 💔 I am hospitilising the next sick piggy and not bringing them home till they are 110% recovered! Ugh!

I am so, so sorry @Emx93. What a horrible shock for you. I am so sorry that Flower didn’t make it. And that you’ve had such a traumatic time. Please try to get some rest and try not to focus on her last hours. Massive hugs xx

I’m sorry for your loss. You did everything you could for Flower and she knew she was loved.
