He is doing ok has eaten and drunk and is moving about even rumble strutting at his room mate.

As there are no cavy savvy vets open today I have decided to take him to Edinburgh University Vet School tomorrow. I have placement from 7 til 2 so will go after. Going to my parents with both of them now as they live near the vet school and mum is gonna be home til 9ish 2mw and then will check in on her lunch break. Might me able to persuade dad to take Sam to the vets in the morning before work.

Thanks for your advice

Also yes he is pooing and peeing plenty.

I realise about the internal damage that can be caused....what can vets do about this?

My dad is an engineer and says that if its just his teeth that have touched the live wire the shock will have gone through his body and out his feet which is probably why he survived. He has definitely been rattled though. Have checked for burns but haven't seen any (I'm not vet so thats not to say there aren't any), also as he is eating well could it still be likely got a burn in the mouth?

Thanku

i am glad that he seems better and that you are taking him to the vets tomorrow. I really cannot offer any advice but just wanted to send you my best wishes xx keep us informed

I think it'd be worthwhile visiting any vet to at least get him pain killers just now. I know if I was electrocuted I wouldn't be waiting before going to A&E.

I agree, most vets even if not knowledge in that area would be able to get advice from somebody who is !

aaw poor thing i hope hes alright, saw this post last night and glad he is a bit brighter today

please take him to the vet though for a check out even if he seems ok i remember when i got electrocuted and it completely threw my immune system out the window i have never been as ill in my life it was seriously awful. It genuinely is a shock to the body x

Quick update

Took Sam to emergency vets last night as I just couldn't stop worrying.

Vet was very pleased with him. He had subq fluids and a 24 hour dose of metacam, and he also spent about 45 mins in an incubator as there was going to be a long wait as emergency case came in just before we did.

He is doing lots of poops and pees even all over the place at the vets!

He is eating hay with no prompting and seems to have a new found favourite food...cucumber. Also eating lots of grass and other bits and pieces.

Still taking him to my own vets today going to ask about getting oral metacam for when the other stuff wears off. Also thinking about asking for gut stimulant as he is not eating as much as usual but I suppose that is to be expected so I will see what they say.

Placement let me away early...I think they could see I had no concentration and I look pretty shattered!

He is still wobbly think is balance is off so think he is feeling dizzy. Vet says this could gradually resolve or that may just be neurological damage but heart sounded strong and steady and his breathing is fine.

I think he is doing pretty well considering what happened :)

As for the boyfriend.....................

Good on you for going to the emergency vets, well done!

He had a gut stimulant but I only gave 3 doses and he was eating fine. He is totally fine on his feet now and back to his chatty self!

Thanks for all your help x

Oh god I just read all this. Thank goodness he is okay. My heart was beating really fast while I was reading. Give him lots of kisses from me.
