Any Thoughts On This Cage ?

This is actually the same size as the one I displayed so do you think it would be suitable for 2 boars?

The only thing I would say about this one is despite it being two tiers the internal dimensions (ie. what your piggy has to move around in) is less than 4ft by 2ft, it's more like 3.5x1.5 inside so I'd argue that this hutch isn't really big enough. Also not all guinea pigs take to two tiered hutches well so you may find they get stuck on one level or prefer not to go to up or down to the other one.

I may well be wrong, but I think if you were to show that to a rescue (if you were adopting piggies from them, not already having your own) that they wouldn't rehome to this hutch. Especially for boars, where bigger is most certainly better.

You'd be much better off looking for something more like this: The Summerhouse 5ft Rabbit Hutch - Outdoor Rabbit Hutches for a pair of boys or a similar sized cage, of which there are quite a few recommended in this thread. I've got this one: Skyline Maxi XXL Small Pet Cage | Free P&P £29+ at zooplus! indoors which is okay for girls, not as good for boys but if limited for floorspace this is the smallest we'd recommend. I use these as my temporary cages for new arrivals or poorly piggies. If you can find similar 150+ cm cages that would be ideal.

but the ramp might be a bit to deep but you cant help that so I'm sure its safe for themx such a posh cage and your piggies will probley bite it xx

Thankyou for replying I do appreciate what your saying I was a bit concerned whether it would be big enough . The only problem is I need a cage for indoors

That's okay, there's a link in my previous post to a 4ft one and this is a Liberta 5ft one that might fit your bill: Liberta Extra Large Rabbit Retreat - Cage and Stand 154cm – Next Day Delivery Liberta Extra Large Rabbit Retreat - Cage and Stand 154cm

Only thing with the Liberta is that you'd need to cover the platform and ramp with something as piggies shouldn't be on wire meshed floors, but that's easily sorted with some fleece or similar. :)

Or a 160cm one if you've the space for it: LITTLE FRIENDS HUGE RABBIT GUINEA PIG INDOOR CAGE HUTCH - 160cm NO ACCESSORIES

There's plenty out there, but definitely look for one 4x2 minimum. Or you could look at a C&C cage which can have extra levels added or be made in L shapes to fit in corners. I don't have these so I can't help you with those, but there's lots of info on the forums about them!

I'd always go for one with as much flat (single tier) running space as possible, as when you start to put ramps and things in something that's 4ft you're taking a significant chunk of their space away where the ramp needs to go.

The liberta cage with a stand looks very good I'm interested in that one definitely will this be plenty of room for 2 boars?

Something that sort of size would be great for two boars, they definitely need the extra space! The only thing that bothers me about it is the wire as I said above but if covered with a fleece then I can't see it being a problem at all, they've then got a nice little loft to go to too!

Thankyou ever so much for your help

I had that cage, only used it as seperate cages as the pigs lived seperate and it was the only option for keeping 2 in a limited space. I set the ramps up yesterday for the 1st time for joey. I recently lost our other piggy and want to get another piggy to pair with joey so they would need both levels but he didnt like the second ramp. Size isn't great but if like mine they get in the run everyday and space is an issue then its ok. Although i have decided I'd prefer a 120cm one level cage for 2 pigs. :)

The 160cm x 80cm cage is sold by Poppys Pets, Knaresborough on ebay for £129.99. They also trade under the name The Little Pet Warehouse where they sell them for £99.99 + £30 fixed postage charge so excatly the same price to pay.

Worldstores also do a 160cm cage which is 60cm wide (that's the same width as a standard 120cm cage). It is £94.99 + £5.99 p&p = £100.98 Which is probably the best available for roundabout £100

Thankyou :)

I can vouch for the Little Friends range. I have the 120cm which I use when I need to house any temporarily and it's a well-built very good quality cage. The 140cm and especially the 160cm are really good sizes and as you can already see it's possible to create an extra level.
The problem with all of the commercially made multi-level cages that I have personally seen, is that they tend to be 100 or 120cm, and even though I am also a fan of multi-levels, it is preferable to get a 160cm one level cage over a 120cm multi-level one. Nothing compares to having space to run around in :)

:D Wow! That Ferplast Krolik cage looks fantastic! It must be the biggest cage I've ever seen! It's nearly as big as a single bed! You could cover up the extension to make an enclosed sleeping area. I'd go for that cage if I was looking for a cage and had the money. And that Summerhouse 5ft hutch is great too.

Hi guys have an update went to the pet shop and they said a 120cm cage would be more then enough room for two Guinea pigs . Any thoughts ? Is this true? Thanks

120 cage will be fine if your boars get on well but the more room the better. Just remember you have to fit 2 of everything in there, so 2 food bowls, 2 hidies and 2 water bottles and if you have hay boxes you will need 2, this takes up a lot of space. I have a 3x4 cage for my 3 girls which is around 110cm x 140 cm. Guinea pigs love having room to run around. If you have the room I'd say go as big as you can :)

Boars need a lot of room to move and play in. A lot of the time my two sleep separately which wouldn't be possible in a smaller cage. Although 120cm is recommended it is best to go with larger if you have the space :)

It's definitely the minimum you should go for. I've got two young boars (about 5-6 months old now) in one of these and they're just about outgrowing it to be quite honest. All the running around and strutting would definitely be made more fun by more space! They're moving to a 5x2 hutch just as soon as the weather gets a bit nicer. All my pairs of boars get 5x2 hutches, that extra two square feet makes a surprising difference to their behaviour and exercise habits!

Thanks for all your replys. The Guinea pigs I'm getting are quite small and the women said they should be fine in a 120cm cage . I'm also buying a run for out my back garden so that should help. If they do ever start to outgrow if I will then consider getting a bigger cage . Thanks again ;)
