Any other vegetarian/vegan folks here?

Been vegan about 5 years now - was randomly given a leaflet in the street about calves being separated from their mothers and that was what did it for me.
Yes after being veggie for many years I came to feel the dairy industry is more of a concern than meat even. I hate alterative milk so made it a lockdown project to try many types, settled on morrisons UHT almond. One good thing to come out of lockdown.

I’m the opposite. My diet mainly is meat. I’m just super fussy and have extremely strong tastebuds so I eat very little anyway. I don’t tend to eat much red meat though. Only this last year I learnt to like potatoes so I’m really proud of that small development. :P:P

At least owning my piggies i look more like the average supermarket shopper…

I also tried a bunch of non dairy milks at some point to see what I liked the most and unsweetened almond milk was my favorite as well. I find almond milk works the best for most things, especially sweet things like drinks/desserts, and oat milk is a close second if the almond taste doesn't fit the dish. Oat milk does taste a little "oaty", but I can see why people like it a lot because it's thicker like a dairy milk.

I have seen people while in the supermarket with ENTIRE CARTS of Milk, or a cart that’s just full of potato
I queued behind a guy at 10 in the morning who had 8 cans of Guinness, a half bottle of scotch, and a Mars bar. Now he was probably preparing for a night in with some mates as this was pre-covid but when he caught me looking for some reason I said, "Breakfast of Champions...." and we both fell about laughing 🤣

I eat most things. I might have told you before that early in our relationship me and hubs were talking about being stranded on a desert island (something to do with that Tom Hanks film coming out) and I said we might get to the stage where we had to 'draw straws' (if you know what I mean) and bless him, he said, "Oh no, I couldn't eat you..." and I said, "Well, that's that sorted then!"

OMG I could not with the "raw meat" veggie burgers that bleed. It grossed me out so much 😆 My husband and I didn't think it tasted that great and I always prefer a vegetable burger over a fake meat burger, partly because I was never a big fan of the taste of meat to begin with. Some of the fake meat products here do taste pretty good (some more realistic than others) and my husband enjoys them a lot, but the pseudo raw ground beef burger that bleeds beet juice was too much for both of us! It was too realistic.

The more I think about it though, the bleeding gimmick feels more like it is aimed towards meat eaters who want to try vegan food. I can see its purpose in that it might make the switch easier if you really love meat and the raw animal meat/blood aspect doesn't bother you.
Yeah, the fake meat stuff is to tempt new converts IMHO, a nice lentil curry is more my sort of thing... although I do like Gregg's vegan sausage rolls.
Been veggy since 1973, and vegan since 2013-ish.

Husband is vegetarian, I'm not but we eat mostly vegan at home as he had heart surgery last year (and Finns are generally lactose intolerant). I tried fully vegan when I was working in a vegan store years ago but I got pretty sick despite taking supplements, so I went back to omnivore. It's definitely nice to share food with the piggies, they always come to check what we're having and we do a bite for you, a bite for me 😂

I've just caught up with this thread. I confess to being a meat eater, though I do eat much less than I used to and try to have 2-3 days a week when I don't eat meat. I do enjoy it though and wouldn't want to give it up entirely.

I could never become vegan - I love cheese and chocolate too much. (The vegan versions I've tried taste disgusting to me.)

I’ve been a vegetarian for about 3 years now. It was definitely adopting the piggies that made me see how amazing animals are. The pigs made me a huge animal lover, and I just couldn’t eat meat after that. :)

I’ve been a vegetarian for about 17 yrs
I only used to eat poultry before but after having my own chickens I changed completely
My children eat meat and I wouldn’t force my life choice on anyone

I’ve been vegetarian since the mid 1980s but do eat fish.
It makes life easier, especially as my husband is a meat eater.
I should describe myself as a pescatarian but I think that makes it sound as if I belong to some weird cult
