Another chance for Belle.

Ebony it is! And "little Bon bon" for 'short' !

Little bon bon isnt anything i put any time into thinking up - i just found myself calling her that so she might grow into an Ebony or maybe she will just grow into a big Bon bon 🤣

All the 'Bs'
So happy its worked out. 😍😍

Piggies have a way of naming themselves... Enjoy your little drop of liquorice!

I think Ebony has tumbled out of bed and fallen against sleepy Belle!

Those beds are definitely the most popular things i ever bought! Got them back in 2012, they machine wash at 60 and pigs even prefer them to snuggle sacks!

Wish i could buy some more newer ones but i dont know if they are still available. Amazon i think i got them originally20210318_194457.webp

Are they like those mattresses that turn into chairs? Usually for children.

No, @Siikibam - they are just as you see them there and were sold as guinea pig beds in the pet supplies section. Away to look if they still do them now . . .

I think i initially bought them as a bit of a funny novelty thing as my daughter was only 5 when i started with pigs back in 2012. And she was in a pink phase so they were more for her really.

I never thought the beds would last so long, wash so well and be so popular with ALL my piggies @Siikibam !

My original rex pair loved them and i think this is the best pic i have of those same beds

:wub::wub::wub::wub: I think my boys would have absolutely loved them. Oh well. Though I could try making one. Can they hide under the fleece on top?

Theorectically, yes. But they never have 🤣

Such a shame they are no longer available. They really are brilliant, so well made and must have been through my machine hundreds of times over the past 9 years. They wash really well.

OH is building up the bigger cage for Belle and Ebony just now. It will just be a bit less labour intensive on the cleaning as it has megazorb upstairs and fleece downstairs. I hope Belle can show Ebony how to use the ramp ok. I seem to recall a lot of panicked squeaking from belle as a baby when the others went upstairs and she got left behind, not knowing how to get up!

Oooooh i'm having to have a word with our Belle!

The new cage not quite ready so she is just in a travel box with ebony and i dont think she is showing her motherly side!

Few high terror squeaks from the wee one:hmm:

Shes quite strict is Belle.

Oh bless. Ebony “lost” Belle when she went up the ramp. Hope she found her again. 😍

The girls are loving the new cage - cant believe how fast Ebony got the hang of the ramp!

Saw her tug of war with Belle over a bit of red pepper. Belle won and didnt mind. Hope this boldness from the wee one doesnt signal trouble down the line . . . .
Thats usually how youngsters learn whats safe to eat by taking it from the adults.

You dont think this boldness is a concern? It isnt just the food, it's the boldness on the ramp and also boldness around the cage. She is a chatty wee piggy, but there is no hiding away. She seems pretty confident.

When i took mike as a baby, he was picked out by the breeder as a quiet piggy and he was very shy. It took him days to learn the ramp. I had to lay a trail of veg up it. He wanted to stay more hidden, I'm sure and he made a great little companion for my older boar, benson. Never challenged him at all. He was quiet and shy until benson fell ill at the end and then he took over.

This baby isnt pigsonality matched - it just isnt up to standard for showing so it is a breeder reject!

Too early to get worried now; belle is very happy and even popcorning! But i will think back to this post if it all goes Pete Tong further down the road😄

No i think you will be ok. I think it may have been fear aggression with Belle.
