Might be Belle's final chance to find a live in friend so keeping fingers and toes tightly crossed. After failing to bond with @flintstones Pickle, she worked her way through all potential matches at Ayrs rescue and rejected every one.

Came home on her own and is still on her own but tomorrow she is getting a chance to see how she likes a 5week old sow.

I have also been offered a neutered boar for her but that would be difficult/impossible to return if it didnt work out.

Whereas the baby can easily be returned.

I think, though, if Belle rejects this baby too, i will try to get 2 babies for side by side living for Belle.

She is some character!

All the best. I’m taking my Edward and Elizabeth dating on Friday. I’m really nervous as it was a failed bond the last time I took them dating :(
Have faith. And if it doesn’t work out give it some time and try again. It’s so unfortunate how stubborn they can be!🤞🏾

Thanks, everyone! Keeping hopeful that Belle gets out the right side of the bed tomorrow in a sweet temper 🤗

Hope it all works out for you on Friday, @Claire W . Makes me feel better knowing I'm not alone in my bonding nightmare!

Sows, eh? My boys were a breeze. Why, oh why didnt i stick with the boars?!

Good luck with the bonding. 🤞Why are they so picky? Have they all forgotten they are supposed to be herd animals. 😉

Hope it goes well for Mabel and she comes home with a little friend. I tried to bond my bereaved girls with a new young boar in January and it was a nightmare within minutes. Instead of falling out him, they fell out amongst themselves. Posh flew at Ginger and I had to break up a “cat flight” 🙄

That’s what happened between Edward and Elizabeth when we tried to bond them with the mum and daughter pair back in October :( x

We are setting off very soon with Belle! She is in a great mood today, very friendly to me anyway so let's hope that bodes well. . . .be back later with a full report and 🤗 a friend for Belle!
Come on Belle, you can do this!

It’s really strange? Why would they fall out amongst themselves when they live happily together normally? I really was suprised by my experience with Posh and Ginger especially when Posh (top pig) took to Ted straight away? Ginger took a little while longer to except Ted but they became so close over the first few weeks. I just don’t understand them. I still feel that both of them would bond with Hector individually but not as a pair

It is strange. I’m sorry that Posh and Ginger didn’t bond with Hector but I’m glad that he has a new friend in Kiki.

It’s been suggested that may be Elizabeth is fear aggressive but she bonded with Edward and Ellen just fine x

Have got the wee baby pig back home. Keeping seperate tonight so i can supervise a proper bonding tomorrow. Belle didnt look too chuffed with her new pal at the breeder's but they were in too small a space to fight so nothing happened.

I will be having a thorough read through of all the bonding guides on here to give this the very best chance i can but if anyone has any top tips about anything, please do let me know.

What size of bonding pen is best for this pair? The baby is tiny as you can see from this pic

The pen you have should be big enough. How was she behaving at the breeders? Good luck, I hope it works out.

That pic above is her at the breeders. She was trembling! The breeder thought she was not a dominant pig and she was trembling with fear. But i think more likely cold as was an outdoor shed and she is used to a centrally heated home.

The breeder put them right next to each other like this. Not much room for a fight there!

Have started the bonding. So far, nothing too worrying has happened. But it hasnt settled yet. They have been eating together, but then a noise in my kitchen sent baby scurrying into belle and both of them stayed frozen in fear. Belle's was fear of the baby so close. Belle is not scared of kitchen noises as she lives in the kitchen.

Now they are eating together again though so fingers crossed this actually could possibly work 🤗
