I had a laparoscopy and was told they were too big to remove except by opening my caesarian scar again meaning a full operation which I don't want unless it's a hysterectomy. I was told when I had my son nearly 7 years ago by the consultant that I'd need a hysterectomy before I was 40 which is next year but have since been told they don't like doing them 'just' for fibroids, only cancer.

I don't have any treatment other than ponstan for period pain and iron for the anaemia. However my periods are getting heavier and heavier and after two or three days I flake out exhausted, which is when I pop the iron as I can't tolerate it full time.

I went back to eating red meat but it doesn't make any difference.

Roll on the menopause....... ;D

totally agree with you I'm 46 in march and am now counting the months until menopause, the first 3 days knock me for 6 , am taking some pills and have tried others but ntohings working they suggested the mirena coil but am very reluctant to do that at my age,

It's an ongoing thing for a coeliac. I eat loads of meat and chocolate is very good too ;D

My worst reading was a haemoglobin of 5 and a ferritin of 6. My GP said he had only ever encountered one person with worse (Hb 4.5) and she was starting to get cardiac failure from it.

I keep it up with iron on and off, but I think my last blood donation really took it out of me.

Beat you - I've had a ferritin level of 3 ;D ;D I've not had a HB level of 5 though, that is very low, I've been down to 8 I think.

Just caught up on this thread - Lucinda what a tough time, you have def kept you humour though! I'm really sorry that there are so many people going through ongoing health issues on this forum. Maybe Guineas give some kind of healing properties that why we all have them. Hugs all round- sending white light, and as someone said on another post they would light a candle for Mary. i've got a huge church candle that I havent lit yet - I think it will be my healing candle now for people going through a tough time, health or otherwise. I will light it tonight for all youz! :-*

You still alive? ;D

when i was pregnant with my eldest now 25 my HG level was 4.8 and i felt like poo all i could do was lie on the couch I felt sick woozy and so tired so I feel sorry for you sweetie thank goodness that was the worse i ever had , but was put on iron tablets a few months ago becasue of my ulcer,
just seen Dr he said I need a blood test how surprising ! to check my iron as I have a bleeding ulcer what I mean is my stomach ulcer is bleeding lol he said as Ive not got the helibacterial bug, its caused by alcahol ( rarely drink) smoking NO and stress yep lots of that so have got to avoid it so lots of piggy time is prescribed by me he wanted me to have another endoscopy that would be 3 then :( but i managed to get him to try a different tablet along side my usual, the bad pain I had the other day was the ulcer but luckly I knew what it was and did the right thing or it could have been really bad , I think a lot of us who are ill are drawn to the relaxation of keeping pigs i know thats where i head when feel rough, so from today any one giving me stress about anything I DONT CARE lol got to get that through to the kids though,

;D ;D ;D Just about I think!

Jillybean - the ferritin is I think the iron stores that your body draws upon, I was told a healthy woman should have a ferritin level of 100+ so when mine came back as 3 I had a call from the GP saying, 'erm, I've left a prescription for iron which I think you need to come and get right now' ;D

Mine usually takes a few months to get back up then 6 months of periods gets it right back down again and it's back to the dr!

Thanks Kayjay. You learn something every day! I'd never heard of it before.
