Just in case you don't have any ideas, what occurred to me after suggesting Birds: Titles or first lines of Xmas carols, Xmas songs
The idea came spontaneously to me as I was working at the farm, sorting deposit jars and deposit lids - got my creative brain going - too late to change on the thread tho

This is a tough one. For some letters there are many carols and for some letters like E, :hmm:

But tonight I sang TWO in the choir service: Engel auf den Feldern singen; Es ist ein Ros' entsprungen
The first one may be known to people in French? I remember we sang it at schoool - Les anges dans nos campagnes - (Angels in our fields), with lots of high and long glorias. The second one is about a rose (the Virgin Mary) who sprung from a tender root and bore a little flower (Jesus). It sounds a bit funny in English but I like it in German, it's a traditional carol.

I did check Auntie Google and came up with 5 hymns in English that start with E, but I've never heard of any of them, and I promptly forgot all of them.

So, little change: going forwards with this thread, I'd suggest that if there isn't a Christmas carol or Christmas song beginning with the letter in question, see if there isn't a carol in a different language
