How long before you get his coat? It might be worth having a word with GPQ bout how she used a sock for her skinny.

I'm sure you just have to cut the toe out and make holes for the legs.

Might be worth a try until his coat arrives.

You know I am sure that someone sent me an email the other day with a piggy with a collar on ..... like the ones they give to dogs to stop them biting themselves so they must be available somewhere.....

Actually now I come to think about it I am sure it was in a pet shop that I seen these little collars with pictures of piggies wearing them.
Going to retrace my steps over the last two weeks and see if I can remember where it was I saw them.

Will get back to you when my brain decides to work

Good luck in the meantime.....

Hi

He is still self harming so patiently waiting for the postman to arrive with his guinea pig coat. Shouldn't be too long now. I've moved him and his son into a nice 5ft x 2ft hutch so that he has plenty of room. Have done it gradually so as not to freak him out with having so much space all of a sudden. He's adjusting really well. There's a strong bond between me and this whole guinea pig family now as they have had so much handling from me and my daughter. Rocky (aka Puff) jumps up at the hutch bars when I walk in the shed and eeks for attention. He really is adorable.

If you can please remember where you saw the piggy collar I will get on the phone to them straight away as I'm willing to try anything.

Many Thanks
Claire

I just thought this might be of help:

http://www.schweineban.de/seiten/meerschweinchen/info/halskrause.htm

The instructions are in german only, but I suppose the pictures are easy enough to understand. The measurements on the first picture was for a 800g heavy not fully grown piggy, so for a grown up piggy you would have to make it slightly larger.

The stapling should take place after the (what do you call this thing in english?) has been placed around the piggies neck, and the staple ends should be on the outside, to avoid any possible injury.

stan and rocky could be twins they are so much alike :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: beautiful colour and sweet face with big black eyes. and as for the piggy with the head collar on that is adorable and piggy lips too :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: might have to put stan and rocky on my piggy napping list they are so cute! hoping you manage to stop him from hurting himself. sending hugs and cuddles and please post picture of rocky in his collar and/or jumper :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

A quick update for all those who have helped me with advice through the "bandaged up" problem.

Rocky (aka Puff) is doing absolutely brilliantly. He is loving his new hutch and getting some well deserved sunshine. We only have one small scabby bit left to go on one on the wounds and hopefully we'll be rid of this awful condition. Fingers are tightly crossed that he doesn't start all over again, but for now, he's a happy pig.

Have taken some pics this morning.

To the one person who likes to judge me (and you know who you are!) I do in fact have the knowledge and determination to succeed with these rescue piggies, no matter how much time, attention and cost this involves. I won't stop fighting to make their lives happier and healthier.

that is fantastic news about rocky did the jumper or collar help him? really hoping he continues to improve :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: sending hugs, prayers, good vibes your way :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: you have done a wonderful job with him and the rest of the family. O0 girls send :-* :-* :-*

Hi

Just a quick update on Rocky and Stan. They are both now fit and healthy with no wounds or even scars to tell of Rocky's horrible past.

They are both nominated in this months Rescue Guinea Pig of the month as they are now looking for a new forever home.
It will be a really difficult day for us when they do find that special home but we know that they will bring smiles all round as they really are so very cheeky and playful.

Thank you to everyone who supported me through this and offered encouragement and advice.

Claire & Alicia

I only found this story now because of your post today, so of course had to go back and read it all. You've done an incredible job of bringing this very unhappy piggie to the stage he's at today (indeed the whole rescue is something so wonderful). You are to be commended, and I admire you so much. Of course, everyone who rescues is a very special person, but this story really warmed my heart.
