hand wash? what's that?:lol::lol::lol:
When you get a piece of fleece you will wash it into a washing machine; 40°; normal soap; with other laundry; but without softener. One time is enough although it will work even better after 2-3 washing :). If you have a fast spin cycle the fleece will come out nearly dry.

That would be ideal but other family members hate the idea of the pigs' stuff in the machine and having to unclog the filter. I'll give aubiose a shot for now.

actually my filter was clogged with my daughter's scouting socks and uniform...:rant: I don't see any hair/hay in my fleece after a good shake. I understand the disgust many people feel for pets' stuff, but a teenager's pair of socks is worse, I guess...:twist:
Jokes aside, the best thing to do is trying different solutions because what is the best for me could be the worst for you...

Yeah. I would love to use fleece, it just wouldn't work right now.

I've tried shavings but the shavings cost to much so i use fleece and newspaper. I've never tried aubiose.

I sometimes use Aubiose, sometimes use shavings. Just depending on which shop I go to and what's cheapest and what I've got my other rodents on etc.

The main thing is to make sure you give a deep enough layer, so that the substrate can effectively wick the moisture down to the base and leave the top nice and dry. If you do too shallow a layer this doesn't happen and it'll all get dirty much quicker (although Aubiose will generally last longer with this than most shavings brands). I generally do Aubiose about the depth of my middle index finger joint.
