Well we were in Pets at home today getting Hay and there in the adoption centre was a 12/15 month old sow called Coco. She is beautiful but not available for adoption until tomorrow so I just have to hope she is still there tomorrow after work. The girl did ask the manager if we could have her today but he said no. She said they are quiet on Mondays so hopefully she will still be there. If not then it isn't meant to be.

Could you call in at lunch time to reserve her?

They don't let you reserve them unfortunately even though they know who we are and I also work a forty minute drive away :(

Oh no! I am sure that a Monday will be quiet and that she will be there waiting for you.

Esther, they said they have to be quarantined for 3 days before rehoming.

Romily, I really hope so. I am going to be on tenterhooks all day at work.

Do you not have a friend/family member who could go and get her for you?

No I haven't my mum doesn't work but she doesn't drive either and lives in a different town. OH has to work too and also doesn't drive. May call them in the day to check she is still there and to remind them I'm coming in. Will keep you updated :)

I remember the 'will she/he still be there?!' worry, we saw Dodge in the adoption centre at 3.30pm on a Sunday, but I had to clear it with Mum first (the joys of still living at home, tsk), so I knew I couldn't get him til the next day...given them open at 9am, I was up at 8am and standing outside P@H at 8.55am to make sure I got him...obsessed, me?!

~ahem~

Will keep everything crossed she is still there! And a lot of people in there tend to be wowed by the ickle bubby ones in the main bit, so hopefully won't notice her!

Good luck today, hoping we will see pictures of your new arrival later today!

Thanks everyone, I spoke to them first thing and they still said I couldn't reserve her but have taken my details and said they will call if someone takes her. The woman did not seem very with it though so am not holding my breath. The carrier is in the car boot in case. There was a tanker fire on the A1M northbound though this morning which is the direction I will be going so it better be sorted by later. I don't drive on the motorway but it means that my route will be jammed.

Argh! What a tense day! I don't get why they can't just reserve her for you! Shame I live far away or I would have got her for you today to ease the tension!

Its a shame they wont let you reserve her - the PAH I go to allows reservations - I was talking to an employee last week and he said they prefer it so you can reserve an animal in the adoption bit, go home and sort out the cage etc then go back and pick up the pet.
Saves having to sort out the cage when the little one gets home.....
You would think they would all allow that.
Hope it all works out for you,
x

Must just be my store, it's annoying as they know us as a few of our hamsters are from the adoption centre and they always tell us if there are any new ones needing a home (no room for more hammies at the mo though :( ). Makes sense too as like you say we can get the cage ready. Partner is going home and setting eveything up in case. Just want it to be 5 o'clock now.

Do you think there is any way that your work might let you sneak away early?

Best of luck! Make sure that you ring them up beforehand so you do not have to make the trip in vain.

It's on my way home so will call in anyway, also she could be taken in the hour between me leaving work and getting there. I'll look a right idiot if I go in with the carrier and she is not there though rolleyes

Just missed your post, sorry. Not really as we are absolutely snowed under. I may see if I can leave 15 minutes early just to beat the traffic.

Offer to go in early/work late tomorrow! Surely they will get the whole need a new piggy thing!?!?!

Awwwww i really hope you get her, she couldn't go to a better home :> keep us updated as to whether you get her
