Can anybody help with titles of good foraging books. I'm planning on giving my piggies a more varied diet next year so thought I'd try some wild stuff @Sarah from Chucklebunnies

I used the online Royal Horticultural Society pages for info on plants mostly, and a small guide to wild flowers Collins one to identify plants while outside as it goes in the pocket. So get a good pocket one to make sure you are picking the right stuff.

I also used a lot of other internet sites including ones for horses, rabbits and other plant info sites and chemistry sites as well when working out what piggies could and couldn't eat. There will be the second part of my 'good green forage' guide in the january edition of the Guinea Pig magazine, which gives the most common useful ones and also some useful pictures. I didn't find a good 'what piggies can eat' foraging book just a list or two online and some of those were incorrect and I wasn't the only person looking, which is why the magazine asked me to do an article for them. If anyone does know of a good book like this I would love to read it too!

I forgot to say, Weibke asked me to do an article for this forum about what piggies can eat when foraging, so that will happen but not before the january edition of the guinea pig magazine has been seen by all. It would be unfair to them otherwise. But it will happen here. Possibly as a sticky. That's up to the forum.

I like books by Roger Phillips - I have used 'Wild Flowers of Britain' by him to identify plants. His photos are really clear. I used his books at uni (some time ago!)
He has also written 'Wild Food: A Complete Guide to Foragers' which I have not got but I would imagine would be good too - obviously foraging for humans to eat but you can adapt for piggies.
Foraging sticky thread would be good.

Green Foods for Rabbits & Cavies by F R Bell is available from The HayExperts.co.uk for £6.49.

Sorry about the large font up above. I pasted the title from the Hay Experts website and it wouldn't let me change it.
