A Christmas Quiz Thread

In what country is straw put on the table (under the table cloth) at Christmas? Bonus point if you know the reason.

Poland - because Jesus was laid in straw in the manger.

If that’s right the Christmas Quiz will end.
If It’s wrong will need to keep on until we get the right answer.

Thanks everyone for playing.
It’s been very educational as well as fun

But @Merab, today is only the FIRST day of Christmas! In this super educational thread, we've learnt that there are TWELVE days of Christmas ;)

Was anybody given a partridge in a pear tree today? I certainly wasn't.
But I was given two seeds for a plant called the Silesian Raspberry, which is actually a tomato plant

Awww, a Steiff teddy❤️

I wasn't actually being serious about the 12 days of Christmas! We can continue tho but I'll have to put my thinking cap on about that one, maybe the answer will sift up through the dregs of my mind by tomorrow or maybe somebody else knows...

Candlemas - aha! Maria Lichtmess in German, at least in the Catholic church calendar

The final day to remove your Christmas decorations, if not already done on Jan. 6th.
The end of the Christmas season in the church calendar.

I hope that is right, since I don't have time to wait for Merab's answer. IF it is correct, then my next question is a nice easy one: Today being the third day of Christmas, I think :hmm::counts on fingers: if I had one, what would my true love have given to me on this day?

Candlemas - if I recall correctly without the help of Auntie Google...

Is February 2nd, 40 days after Christmas Day, marking the presentation of Christ in the Temple. Special candles are lit, hence the name. My church here has service on the nearest Sunday evening commemorating babies and children who have died, though I don't know why.

At first I thought it was St Nicholas and then the dusty filing cabinet in my brain opened once more and out popped the name St Boniface.
