Okay so I'm sure I am being SUPER dim, but arent these 2 different measurements? 1 cup is LOADS more than 50g isn't it?
My new boys are very chubby and large in general. Is 50g veg a day per piggie enough?

Thanks!

M

its because of the different densities of veggies.
I simply fill a measuring jug with a variety of veg and that’s it (I scatter feed, so I just throw the contents of the jug into the cage). A few sprigs of coriander and perhaps another herb, a couple of lettuce leaves, a couple of chunks of cucumber, a couple of slices of pepper (this is the basis every day, but I’ll often throw in a couple of pieces of something else as well). Having a wet diet, a little extra veg above the one cup is better than overfeeding pellets and to that end, the only food I do measure is their pellets.

I agree it seems confusing, after all a cup of carrots is going to weigh a lot more than a cup of lettuce. Also it depends on the size of the cup. In the US cups are used as a standard baking measurement and are of a standard size, where as in the UK we tend to measure by weight and use cups for drinking tea.

50g is just a guide. I don't weigh out my pigs' veg but when I have, just to see, it is close to 70g, then again I only feed nuggets once or twice a week (20g). The most important thing is to make sure they are eating enough hay.
