3 out of 5 of my boys have BLOAT!?!

Gripe Water is my only option right now. I’ve cleaned the cage and replaced bedding and hay.

I called vet and don’t have the funds. It’s a hell of a lot expensive and my money is non existent at this moment.

My friends or family don’t care about my troubles. My insurance doesn’t kick in until like 14-16 days.
And I took them off veggies. I didn’t feed them when they were sick and Sky was just talking about veggies. Not insisting on feeding them while bloated!

I’m sorry that you can’t ask family and friends to lend you the money :(

Have you asked your vets if they would consider a payment plan? You really can’t afford to leave bloated piggies for two weeks without seeing a vet :(

I think you'll find gripe water disperses the gas into small bubbles & out of their system, however medications like Infacol will form big bubbles & cause discomfort/ complications/ gut torsions which can be dangerous.

@retro can you take the worst affected guinea to the vet & tell them that you have other piggies at home with the same symptoms & hopefully they'll prescribe you enough medication for only one consultation fee?

Bloat really can be a life or death condition, please get a vets appt as soon as you possibly can.
Is it any good asking the vet if you can do a payment plan & pay a bit each week/month?

That was my plan. To explain that my piggies got sick as well. I’ve tried payment plans. They have something called care credit here in the US and I don’t have enough credit to do that option. However, I do have a credit card. But unfortunately, it’s maxed. Thank you very much for your advice!

I’m trying hard to muster the money.
Tried payment plans and they won’t do it. There are few guinea pig vets where I live and it’s REALLY hard to even get ahold of one.

:( damn it, was worth a try! do you have any charities like the UK's pdsa that give pet owners on low incomes/ certain benefits discounted treatments... Probably not, but I'm clutching at straws for you now. Xx

Nope. Already tried. No guinea pigs get love here tbh. It sucks. Makes me want to go to uni just for the sole purpose of being a small animal vet, specializing in piggies and rabbits, as well as all tiny friends!

I’m sorry that you can’t get a payment plan :( but just taking the poor-least pig to the vet and explaining that you have 4 other poorly pigs, hopefully you’ll get away with only paying one consultation fee
 
I don’t know if anyone follows the thread but I just wanted to inform everyone that Nibbler has passed away. I have been absolutely gutted. Crying all day.

They’re doing fine. I think Newt, his cage mate is a little confused and sad, wondering where his friend is, but over all, spirits are...well, better than ever. It’s like...they all knew he was dying and once he was gone everyone is wheeking in memory. In a weird..way. Still gonna take my Ziggy to the vet. My birthday is in two days, and I have birthday monies soon!
 
Don't worry guys! Ziggy is going to his first vet appointment on monday. He's a nervous piggie so this should be interesting. The doctors are very well trained in my state and are highly notable. We're in safe hands everyone!

Thank you so much for your kind words. Nibbler is my angel and I can feel his spirit..if that makes sense.
