I think I may go for a pellet-less in my guinea pig's diet. What Vitamin D supplements are recommended during the winter months?
For the spring/ summer/ fall months I've heard outside for just 15 minutes a day will suffice. Are we talking *direct* sunlight? Or just indirect sunlight outside...
Hello
While reading over stuff I think my pellets (Oxbow organic pellets) are too high in calcium as they say they are at 0.9% I read that 0.3% is the highest it should be. Now my pig is 4 months old so I know she needs some calcium for bones but after 6 months I'd like to pull her off them...
Hi again, guys. Some of you will remember me, since I've made such a bad first impression of myself as an owner LoL. (I'm that guy who let the dog chase after his guinea pig for the first week)
But I'm way over past that, and I've made soooo many improvements.
Porca is so much better, less shy...
please vote on which guinea pig nuggets you/ your guinea pigs think are the best as i'm considering switching to something different as it becoming far too costly and my piggies don't even seem to keen on it ....
please consider the cost, how healthy they are, and how much your piggies like them...
So hi guys it's me again (Mo's mummy). I just wanted to say to those who saw my thread on his 'squeaking while peeing'I haven't heard him since the last time he did it but he does still do calcium deposits. Would love you guys to drop the best and healthiest brand of pellets I could try that...
Hi everyone,
I've noticed recently that my un-neutered male guinea pig (~3yrs old) is pooping out smaller poops with one tapered end. I'm reading that probiotics can help digestion. I came across this product: National Geographic™ Nutritious Topping Timothy Hay Small Pet Food | small pet Hay |...
My two female sows, are currently 25 weeks old.
I was wondering when I should move them onto adult guinea pig pellets.
At the moment they eat Oxbow essentials young guinea pig pellets.
But there is an adult version.
However, I cannot seem to find any indication of what age they should be...
I just wondered what the general opinion was on science selective? My guinea pigs have come on leaps and bounds since I have had them on it, after being fed rubbish mixed food at the breeders. I've read lots of positive reviews online, I just wondered what anyone else thought of it. While...
i have 3 sows 2 are 13 weeks, 1 is 8 weeks
I currently feed them 1/8 cup per pig
How much would you recommend to give them in grams or in cups?
Am I feeding the right amount ?
Thank you
Hi all
I am thinking of changing my 3 pigs over to burgess excel as they're on pets at home nuggets at the moment and I'm worried they're bad quality! Does anyone know if burgess is better then pets at home or have any tips on introducing new nuggets?
Thanks!
Just taken delivery of my first bags of Versele Laga Cavia Complete for my 17 month old (ish) girls. I just bought a small bag as although they *loved* them when we had a little trial(thank you again SwissGreys), it would follow that they hate them as soon as I buy an 8kg bag!
Out of curiosity...
hi there, I'm getting 2 female Guinea pigs in March. I'm obviously researching a lot and that's why I came to this forum. Which nuggets should I feed them? I want to avoid muesli to prevent selective feeding and I know about avoiding alfalfa and calcium. (Except from when they're still growing...
Hello! My vet gave me a paper today telling me that bags of pellets with added seeds and such is actually bad for them because it makes them gain weight. I have a mixed bag, and he recommended I take the added stuff out of the food. What do you things think? do you feed your piggie(s) mixed bags...
So I'm in the market to potentially change the pellet food that my boys are getting at the moment because what they are on currently seems to be putting weight on them very quickly! I don't want pudgy pigs!
Can anyone recommend me some good foods to try out - i prefer to give them the selective...
Caspar (my baby teddy boar) and Ronan (my baby texel boar: tonights addition, a lone runt that nobody, including the breeder wanted so I couldn't help myself) were both fed heygates rabbits choice pellets as well as refugees (which I feed a bit of alongside Timothy hay) before I got them so I...
what pellets are best for feeding babies? I currently have supreme science selective Guinea pig food which my adults eat but don't know what type of pellets my babies should be eating? They're a week old and don't know if they even eat pellets. Advice would be great! Thanks
I have looked at lists for edible and non edible foods from happycavvy.com but there is a couple foods I'm worried about. Would it be ok to give them fruits like apples and tomatoes 3-4 times a week? (2 days of tomato, 2 days of apple) or is this too much? should I just do 1 day of tomato, 1 day...
So our 2 girls aren't eating the pellets. They r on some store bought crap that these other pple were feeding them and I switched to a hay based pellet- mixed both together and are not eating the pellets at all- haven't ate pellets in 3 days now- love their greens and hay. Peeing and pooing ok...
I got 2 female guinea pigs this week and we got pellets as I know this is better than muesli (because muesli doesn't give them all the nutrients they need as most guinea pigs only eat the parts they like). However, they haven't been eating the pellets. They have eaten a few, but only a few...
My boars are currently eating oxbow young guinea pig essentials. They're four months apart in age however. Jasper just turning 8 months and Neville about to turn 4 months. I know the packagING says up to one year and many vets reccommend one year but I don't want to switch neville too soon...
