Is it possible to grow grass for piggies? What grass is best, and how? I think it would be a safer and a more reliable way than just picking it from outside. :D
Hi, i have a question :).
Do guinea pigs who are being fed grass daily need to be dewormed? I'm not that familiar with worming or anything but I'm assuming that deworming is to help prevent worms? Or is it to help cure it?
Anyway, as the weather is getting warmer I have been giving my guinea...
Has anyone housed their (indoor) piggies on live or growing bedding? My guy is in a 2x3 C&C cage. I've tried fleece flippers (made my own) and recycled paper bedding (like care fresh). I'm wondering it it would be possible to fill a coroplast tray with dirt and grow grass, cilantro, parsley...
Having grown up on a farm here in Ireland, I know more about grass than most cows do!
All the piggy owners in Ireland and England will be delighted to know that the "fresh growth" has started!
You can give your pigs grass from a safe garden/field any time of the year really, but it tastes...
When feeding pigs grass does it count as part of their daily hay portion or as part of their greens ration?
Is grass that has frost on it, but is now completely defrosted, okay?
Is grass from horses' fields okay? (We do regularly worm our horses, but dogs can get sick from eating horse poo...
Tomorrow morning I'll be taking Beans in for her spay. I cannot even put into words how terrified I am for her. Apart from these cysts (and cataracts) she's in good health. She plods around and loves a good munch. She's getting on a bit, around 5 I think she is but she can still keep up with...
I don't trust the grass grown around my city seeing as there are pesticides put down, along with cats and dogs using the grass to potty. I was looking into buying wheatgrass seeds to grow so my pigs can have some grass to munch on occasionally. I was wondering if anyone's done it before and...
Now that it's a bit cooler outside I thought I'd put Beans on the grass for a while (Toast can't have grass too often as it makes her bloaty).
She has an appointment at the vets tomorrow morning to get hormone injections to treat cystic ovaries. So I thought she deserved to stuff her little...
I'm sure this is a question thats been asked multiple times, but is it okay to pick grass by hand in the garden and feed it to my piggy? I know to make sure it's clean, and there are no dangerous plants.
Thanks!
Sharna :)
all my girls are ex-breeders that we rescued. I have 3 Swiss's and 1 self. Pink eyed White Swiss is called Olive, the torteshell Swiss is called Martha, the ginger and white Swiss is called Elsie and the lilac self is called Violet. They range from 1 year old to 2.5 years old
Grass time for the girls after an early finish from work - a lightening strike took out our internet, server and phones on the early hrs of Thursday morning and the engineers who I'd been on the phones to for the last 2 days were fixing it.
The pigs don't care about the political situation, as...
Just wondering what grass people grow? I like the idea of a mixed bag of pasture grasses and forage herbs, but they're all intended for horses so the bag is rather larger than I need!
Hello, I have 2 pigs that live outside in a hutch. I let them into their run daily (weather permitting) with plenty of shade and tunnels/ houses etc. They have lots of safe grass to nibble on and food and water available.
I was wondering how long I should leave them in their run for. Is there a...
My three girls had their first time on the lawn today. I've only got a front lawn at the moment and don't trust the neighbourhood kids so I have to sit out with them. Chewie took the longest to come out the box and BB was the quickest to run back in if anything happened. They had a rug of war...
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm getting trays to grow grass in for the pigs and I was wondering if there's any grass seeds I should avoid? I'm in B&M and they have about 10 different types but are all suitable for the pigs to munch on?
Thankfully today it's really sunny outside so I managed to get the pigs on the grass for a while. My garden got badly flooded over the winter so there's only a small square of grass that's okay for them to go on, it's enough for them though
After not being out in the sun for a while...
Beans and Toast have very different personalities.
Toast is very polite and elegant, takes her time eating.
Beans crams it in like she's never seen food before and has absolutely no table manners what so ever
Toast likes to pick the grass up bit by bit, Beans like to shove it...
only a short garden time for their first time (I know they are used to grass as rescuer used to feed them grass) but here is the boys enjoying being outside. So nice to see them enjoying it and getting exercise. :luv:
The picture shows them about 2 hours into their grassy fun. When they first were put onto the grass they were trying to pull up the roots and were having a hard time in the process. I think they then learnt that the roots don't taste as nice.
Has anyone else tried their piggies with raspberry...
