Unfortunately, my girl Zelda's bladder tumor is back. She has been quite lately. Still eating, but not as enthusiastic. I took her yesterday and had an ultrasound done and it's back. We are going to start piroxicam again and hope it works. If not, I will be spoiling her amd keeping her as comfortable as possible until the dreaded day comes to say goodbye. I feel fortunate for the year that she got tumor free.

So sorry to hear this. I hope the medication works again for Zelda. Big hugs from me and the piggies.

Hello! My boy just got a diagnosis of a bladder tumor. While I was searching and trying to figure out how other folks may have handled the situation, I came across your zelda's story. I was wondering what the whole process looked like for you and your zelda?

What did your vet suggest? You’re better off starting your own thread as your reply could get lost amongst the others.

We restarted the piroxicam, but unfortunately I believe she passed away from something else. One day I found her struggling to breathe. I rushed her to my vet. We did an x-ray. Her lungs were full of fluid. She died a couple of hours later 😪

The specialist wanted to do a needle biopsy, but my regular vet did not feel comfortable doing it. He said it wouldn't change our treatment plan, so i just did piroxicam. She loved it. She took it twice a day. It was strawberry flavor. Sending prayers for you and your piggy. It did work for her. I would just advise to stay on it permanently. Once I stopped, it returned. The specialist said to stop it once we had a clear ultrasound.

Wow, so in theory, there's a potential treatment plan where he could be okay? I'm so sorry to hear about your girl, thank you for the details!

So sorry that Zelda has passed away. I really feel for you. Be kind to yourself; you bought her extra good quality time that you were able to enjoy together.

It worked for her. If you can get your vet on board. My vet didn't know how to treat it so he reached out to a specialist. Apparently, you treat it with the same medication as you do for dog bladder tumors. The tumors are usually the same kind. Surgery can cause more harm than good. Best of luck with your piggy.

So sorry to hear about Zelda.
Nice to see you again though - you’ve been missed
Thank you. I have been so busy. I went back to work a year ago after being a stay at home Mom for 10 years. My husband lost his job a little over a year ago. He hasn't been able to find anything since the coronavirus took over everything. I have had multiple issues with different pets as well 😐. I lost my one year old Jimmy a few months ago to bloat. Broke my heart. I did everything I could, but he didn't make it. One of my cats had foreign body surgery for a huge hairball that was blocking her intestines. One of our rats just had tumor removal surgery a week and a half ago, but it got infected. Ugh. On top of that my golden girl Snickers who is at least 8 years old has been having breathing issues for the last several months. I have spent a ton of money, been to 3 different vets who just want to send me to a specialist 3 hours away. I can't get in for months. I don't want to go to any heroic lengths for her with her age anyway. Just want to help her breathe easier. Trying a couple of things with the current vet. If it doesn't work, I may have to let her go. Ugh. Life is just too much right now.
