Our guinea pig, Sprite, is a year younger than his buddy, Bacon. Bacon and Sprite did the dominate test, and Sprite was it. Is this natural?

Character compatibility comes before age with piggies. If Sprite is happier with an uncle figure who can give him guidance and security, he will choose an older piggy. If he was a very dominant personality, he'd probably gone for a younger mate that wouldn't challenge his leadership.

Generally, an age difference and a clear hierarchy is of advantage when dealing with boars; especially with subadults. It helps to additionally stabilise the relationship.
