They are both nearly a year old and have been kept in a Ferplast 80 (far far too small I know) I have just ordered a 5ft hutch with a run for summer and shall be making a C and C cage for the winter. All they have done since I bought them home is fight. I don't know what to do till Tues :(

It's not surprising they're fighting in such a small space. Have you got anything you can use as an indoor run to give them a breather until their bigger house arrives? Have they always been together?

The guy I got them off says so. They are lovely and I felt sorry for them and this person was saying how much he needed the money for their rent. So yes I bought them out of sympathy, the poor things :(

I am going to put them out in the garden supervised for a couple of hours.

So far today they have been great in the garden, just as well the weathers going to be nice for the weekend. Shall only put them in the cage at night and when I'm out.

As AndreaJane says, boars will argue and fight as they are territorial with space. They should calm down with a bigger area :...
I have two sets of boars and they had a 4x2ft pen each with C&C floorpens (only used the pens at night for sleeping) but built our own.
They have a double storey pen per pair, both levels are 6ftx2.8ft and have never had a problem squabbling with either so definitely go as big as you can manage.

Poor things :(:( a Ferplast 80 isnt big enough for one let alone 2.

If you are getting a new cage on Tuesday, try and give them as much time out of that small cage as you can. Are you able to section off a part of a room in your house and make a run area for them?

Boys like to have their "own" of everything -so food bowl, water bottle bed etc. It might ease the tension a bit if they are not sharing.

Agree with everything that has been said, ensure they have 2 of everything and have them out as much as possible, the day I moved my boys into a c&c cage 140cm long everything calmed down. Most boars need their own space.
A lot of pet shops sell small animal enclosures for less than £20 , a series of grids that link together, might be worth looking for so you could set it up indoors.

Something like these:

(you'd need 2 of these for pigs)

Cheers for the advice on them wanting their own things, never crossed my mind. I have now given them the full run of the kitchen with the cage open on the floor.

From what the guy told me all they have been fed on is nuggets from P@H, with no hay. Well today they have been spoilt rotten x

sounds like they've definitely landed on their feet by finding you - i hope they do manage to get on x

So do I they are so sweet, just don't like this fighting, not nice at all. They do seem a little calmer now, think they are tired Bless x

Boars always have to re-establish dominance in new territory, so it is no wonder that you have such a problem, which of course is accerbated by lack of space. If you can establish two corners each with their own hidey, bowl and water bottle, you can take a lot of wind out of their sails. Boars are quite territorial, so the more space they have apart from each other, the happier they will be!

Hay is the most important part of a good piggy diet; it should make up to 80% of the daily intake. If you can provide a tray with a big heap to burrow in, you will have two ecstatic piggies!

Mine also love hay cookies (available online or from P@H) and I am experimenting with the new excell cube things which they love, but which are crushingly expensive. Plenty of hay will help, as it may well be that they like to sleep on or in it. I have two boars as a pair at the mo, and they get on fine, but previous posters are right - the more space you can give them, the happier they will be. I wish the manufacturers would not even make 80 cages - 120 is only just big enough imho, and 140 is much better.

Do you mean as in the family home?

I bought them home in the same cage they has supposedly been in since babies. I did tell the guy I will pick them up in the week, when my hutch was being delivered but he was adamant it had to be done asap as he needed the money for the rent, and that if it was in the week it would be a different price.

Once again thank you
