we only have a small house, but when I bring pigs in I'm thinking of setting them up in my bedroom. I know there is the matter of them chatting and and scratching about.... Will have to see how that goes. They are cleaned all the time so I have no worry of smell.

Thoughts on this matter please...do people think err or not?

As I live in a studio my piggies are in the same room as me. This morning I was woken as one is in season and was chasing the others!

As I suffer from allergies, and they are getting worse, then piggies in the bedroom is a big no no! When I have a very poorly piggy then I do have them in a small cage next to my bed so I can attend to them at night, but under normal circumstances I wouldn't.

I sometimes have guinea pigs in my bedroom over Christmas when their room is needed for relatives. But as I am a light sleeper the noises they make kept waking me up. I was so relieved to get them out back into their own room. But if you are not easily disturbed it is a possibility for you .

I have my boys in my bedroom, I like it!

They kept me awake a bit at first, but you quickly adapt too the sounds, now I don't have a problem!

I find they settle down after a bit and tend too sleep themselves haha.

I think it depends how well you can sleep with noise!

4 of my girls live in my bedroom. Generally, they are very good about noise and are quiet after I have switched the light off at night. Sometimes one of them will decide to start gnawing on her wooden log cabin at about 5 or 6 in the morning! But I just tell them to stop and they usually do. I tried moving 2 of them into the spare room recently. I found that even though I still had 2 in the bedroom, I missed the other two! When I had my house rewired a few years ago, I had to move them all outside into the garden and I did miss them! I felt as though someone had taken them away!

I've had piggies since I was around 15, so they were in my bedroom then. Now I live with my partner and they're still in our room. One reason is that it's the biggest space available for them and it faces the sun, but another is I stress too much if they're in a different room over night. I've had a few piggies pass away during the night and I've thankfully woken up and held them as they passed. I also spend a lot of time in my room so I get to see them most.

I wouldn't do it personally, they used to be in the bedroom next to mine when they were indoors and often woke me up when they were charging up and down the ramp.

My bedroom was the lounge in our old place and we have 7 piggles - you get used to it.

My pigs are in my bedroom and i suffer with hay fever but it's not that bad as with a tablet it's fixed.

Mine are cleaned regularly so they don't smell, i do have to carpet sweep a couple of times a day to keep the mess down as they hay n bedding drives me nuts otherwise!

I got use to them wandering around at night, so i don't really notice it now.

They did start waking me up when the sun comes up so i cover them up at night and it's keeps them asleep til my alarm goes off.. and then i uncover them :)

I have noticed mine are incredibly friendly, i don't know if that because i spend so much time with them as i still live with my parents (can't afford to move out) so i'm in my room a lot.

We had ours in the bedroom when we first got them & had no problems :) I'm not a light sleeper unless I have to be though so they didn't bother me, neither did the gerbils when they were temporarily in the bedroom (not at the same time). When the bunnies were sick though, I had them in the bedroom to keep an eye on them & every little movement would wake me up :)

I will say that when they were in the bedroom, they were in a store bought cage, which held the mess in really well! They've since been put into a c&c cage, which is fab, but they do kick their poos and fitch out more! They're in the spare room atm though, so it's not too much of a problem :) xx

:whistle:thank you all for your replies. I could have them downstairs but I have two dogs and a nutter of a toddler! So I think the noise maybe over baring for the poor pigs. Just worry about my partner getting annoyed.....although I always get my own way when it comes to animals.

I wouldnt mind it at all but my husband would probably move out if I tried to move piggies in the bedroom!

its fine to have them in the bedroom. you get mostly used to the noise. ours are on the other side of the wall to our bed. and its a really really thin wall. so we hear them all the time.
like you were saying smell may be a problem, but you have them clean is not such an issue.

I keep Benji in my room, hes is a little noisy but were getting into routine that lights off means bed time. but come 7/8am hes up running around but not too bad until i get up and start my day.

Mine are in my room, as I rent there isn't anywhere else for them to go.

Sometimes the noise from the water bottle drives me MENTAL if I have a migraine but generally I like having them there.

Pig doesn't live in the bedroom but every morning he has a cuddle inside my dressing gown as I have my morning cup of tea. He is caged in the day time and in the evening has the run of the living room. He's trained us where to put his puppy pads and he and the dog (spaniel) happily ignore each other.

My two boys live in my bedroom, actually they have taken over my room. They live in a 5ft x 5ft cage, and my bed is squeezed in beside it. But I love having them there, its comforting hearing them much on hay and squeak occasionally. They are noisy in the mornings, wanting their veggies. But other than that, they are perfect.

Just had the shock of my life looking at this thread and seeing this photo. Thank goodness that bear is stuffed I thought it looked lifeless, taking a much closer look with my glasses firmly on nose I can see the little guinea pig on top. Oh the relief.

On the rabbit forum (rabbits united) I once saw photos of someone’s re-designed bedroom to accommodate rabbits, she ended up getting a cabin bed so that rabbits had enough floor space! I thought that was absolute dedication.
