yawning

Yawning can either be tiredness or their way of saying: "See these teeth? Look how sharp they are. Better remember that." If your piggie seems tired, that might be it. If not, maybe see if the yawning continues if you retreat a little.

It is unlikely to be a sign of illness. It means he is either tired or stressed. It is a bit of a myth that they do it to show their teeth as a warning. Yawning when feeling stressed is a displacement activity for many animals when they find themselves in a situation they would rather not be in but can't readily remove themselves from. While it is not an active warning as such, it is a sign that defensive aggression could follow if the situation they are in continues or becomes more intense.
