Hi everyone! I figured I’d make a journal-type thread of my adventures with my first herd, pictures included ofc!

I need name ideas for all of my girls still haha. I’m thinking good-themed. Bacon, Pancake, Waffles, etc.

I’m planning on having five piggies in total, right now I have three. They came outside for the first time today!

My Aby girl is a Gold Agouti, the silkie is a lavender with pink eyes, and the newest girl is a Chocolate Roan!

Small victory today! Piggies have begun to show interest in taking treats and veg by hand :luv: They panicked and fled after the newest girl grabbed the lettuce out of my hand but it's great that they're getting more comfortable.

Some pre-trio pictures and bonding 🥰 The last picture is of the girl I’m waiting to bring home. She has a case of ringworm so manager won’t let me take her home until she’s “healthy”. I’ve got a vet appointment set up for her on the 6th so I’m taking her home then regardless of what my manager says haha. I’m planning on having a herd of five for now, 2x6 C&C cage is in the mail as we speak!

We had our first weigh-ins today! I really need to name them but nothing seems to stick or seem fitting. I've had 43 betta fish over the course of my lifetime so most of them have taken up all of my favorites!

First girl, who has been with me longest, weighed in at 283g at 6 weeks & 1 day of age.

The silkie, who was born the same day as the first girl, weighed in at 229g. We might need to work on bulking her up a little bit! Going to continue to monitor weights over the next couple of weeks and see how she's doing.

Third girl, who is a little chunk, weighed in at 228g at 4 weeks & 5 days.

You don’t need to bulk her up. As long as she gains weight every week it’s fine 🙂

So gorgeous thanks for sharing

Our 6x2 has been shipped! Huzzah! I think they're going to LOVE IT.

Cinnamon is the new name for my larger Chocolate Agouti Aby. Her younger sister is Bliss, while the lilac PEW girl is Sage. The Roan girl is Sundew!

Someone convince me that I don’t need to get a husboar :inn: I’ve heard nothing but good things.... and I’m a sucker for these Abys

You’ll need a second cage and eventually a bigger one (2x7), more money in the vet fund and possibly treat all again for ringworm. Remember he won’t go with them for a while. And a backup plan in case they don’t get on.

And that makes five! She’s going to be quarantined while the others finish ringworm treatments. Super sweet girlie, loves to cuddle. She wheeks at me every time I pass her cage and is getting bullied relentlessly by her cage mate; the store is going to separate them because blood was drawn. She will come home tomorrow!

There’s a boar at the store that will most likely be coming home for a neuter operation and bonding with the now-quintet as well. He’ll stay in the old cage to recoup and in the meantime I’ll be upgrading the C&C to a 2x8 with a 2x2 loft.

Edit: the boar has been dubbed Meatloaf by my coworkers and is a bit of a bully, so I’m hoping a group dynamic will calm him down. If not, I’ve got the means to support a single or pair of boars so we do have a backup plan haha.

She’s beautiful. ❤️

I sent a picture of her to a friend and the friend called her the Lorax. I can’t unsee it 😂

I’ve also included a picture of Meatloaf, who is beloved in his own jerkish way.

Neither can I! You'll have to call her Lorax now! 🤣

Maybe as a nickname! 😂

“Good morning girls! Cinnamon, Bliss, Sage, Sundew and... Lorax.... how are we doing today?!”

I’d get some odd looks from my family... and the guinea pigs too!

How old is Lorax?

Oh no, the name is going to stick 😂

She is the same age as both Cinnamon and Sage; she is Sage’s full sister iirc. They came in in the same batch but “Lorax” had ringworm that was caught in-store so she was taken off of display.

If she’s under four months then she needs bonding now, regardless of what the others (or even herself) may pass on.

She’s probably two and a half months right now; I’ll get her bonded. Thank you!

And that makes six! Nobody told me that piggies are like potato chips!

I’ll be ordering another 2x4 to connect to my current 2x6 to make an L-shape. I’ll be ordering the grids to make a stand as well. They were bonded yesterday and all get along very well!

This is definitely the limit 😂 I’ll eventually be moving out on my own and will have to bring them and my two geckos with me. As much as I would like a hundred pigs, I don’t think that would be good for an apartment! 😂
