Hi

Just a quick question. I have just given both my boys the 3rd treatment of Xeno 450, however they are both still scratching frequently and the skin is still very dry and flaky.
This has been an on-going issue for quite a few months now. Only 3 months ago, they finished a 5 week ivermectin injection treatment at the vets and then we did a course of bathing in Malesab. (Skin scrapes and fungal culture ruled out mites or fungal after treatment). The skin appeared to get a lot better but then after only 1 month they started showing mite symptoms again which is when the vet advised that I could treat them with Xeno 450.
My question is, should/can I treat them with Xeno 450 and give a fourth dose in 2 weeks time or should I wait 48 hours and then bathe in the Malesab again?
Thank you.

If it were me I would wait a few weeks and see how they go.
The problem is that the treatments themselves can also be quite drying, and after so many treatments it might be worth waiting to give their skin a chance to recover a bit.

of course if they seem to be in distress or have clear skin issues (red patches, hair loss etc) then the best thing would be to take them back to the vet.

Is your vet experienced with cavies?
