I suspect that at two of my boys may have mites and have ordered the above. I’ve read on the forum that you can give half a pipette to pigs under 1000g

Does anyone know how to equate this in drops. I have six boys weighing from 750-1010 g and need to calculate suitable doses

Always best to see the vet first and get a confirmed diagnosis, and get the vet to calculate the dosage for you. Some vets prefer to use Xeno50 on smaller piggies, my own vet prefers to use xeno450, but the dosing can be more precise with xeno 50 as a larger volume is used so a vet may prefer that.
Personally I have never counted drops, just used a full pipette of xeno 450 on any pig over a kilo and roughly half on any smaller adults in the 750+ range- there is a good safety margin/efficacy margin and its hard to under dose or over dose significantly with this particular product- but do check with the vet first!

I've always been prescribed the 450. My pigs have sometimes been under the min weight (not by much as all are hefty adults) but advice has varied from "can you syringe it out and do the maths?" (accompanied with small syringe - I was confident enough to do that) to a cheerful "try not to plop it all on!" I must say we've never had any adverse reaction. If you're worried you could try putting on half the dose and leaving for an hour or so before putting on the rest.

Only thing is the mites are supposed to spasm as they die so if you have a heavy infestation this can cause an unpleasant scratching frenzy which can be upsetting for piggy and owner. It can last a few hours - I would say don't do it in the evening when everyone is tired and emotional anyway. Good luck!

The vet told me to put 15 drops on each of my two piggies. Think they were about 1kg. There should be 20 drops in the pipette. I counted to 15 and there was none left! I had overdosed them! I called the vets in a panic. They just said it should be ok. Not very scientific 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thank you for your responses. Much appreciated
