hi guys, we have just got two male Piggy's for our family, i have brought a double decker hutch form " bunny business" and it is great, although having read about the problems with the ramp, now my concern is that my lower level goes onto the grass i thought it would be nice for them to have a nibble on the grass, but all the other double Decker's you guys have a floor in the lower level have i made a accommodation blunder!?

I know for two piggie's the hutch should be no less than 4ft x 2ft i don't think the other level's matter too much as long as the first one is big enough, I wouldnt leave the ramp open at night or if your not about as predator's can get them, congrat's on your new piggies and welcome to the forum

No, that is fine to have the ground floor open. :) I've never put hutches like that on the grass cos I was always scared that the wind would blow them over, because they're top heavy, so just be careful if it's windy :)

I had hutches like that and I put them on concrete, and I found that was easy to just sweep up, and then occasionally move the hutch to clean it or powerwash the concrete, and that their nails stay short from walking on concrete.

The only thing is that on colder or wet days they might not go downstairs. But other than that it should be fine.

thanks for taking the time to answer guys it is a 4ft long one and we always put the ramp up at night!

Wrong damn button!
Anyway, my 4 girls (2, 2 year olds and 2 6 week olds) are housed in this

And they have the hutch door open permanently (well not atm as the babies are familiarising themselves) even at night, but we live in a VERY quiet area so no cats, foxes, birds etc to trouble ours, that and my DP suffers terrible insomnia and has the door open mostly all night!
