I have a pair of g-pigs (opposite genders) who are bonding very well and get along well.

I was thinking of adding a rescue sow one day in the future if I saw one I liked and once they have been moved to the giant c&c cage. I was just wondering how many of you would consider this a good idea or would it be safer just to leave the 2 as a 2 and not upset the balance?

I've heard trios are difficult to manage I don't know if I would try that. I acquired 2 rescue piggies and thought that I big multilevel cage would be great but they didn't get along with my 2 piggies so now I have 2 cages with 2 piggies each!

ok thanks,
Guess he will have to be content with just the one wife then.

I think it's boars that are hard to keep in more than pairs. You could probably add another compatible sow or sows to your herd. Just not any more boars. Also is your boy neutered?

Yes he is neutered, I'd not having living with his wife if he was locked and loaded haha. Sows are the only possible adds as 2 boars would fight around females. I just thought somewhere in the future his little wife might want a friend to share the burden, he can be a very very demanding young boar. She does set him right when he gets on her nerves :)

If you have enough space you could add a new sow or 2. ;) but you are right Only one Boar in with sows.
I have 2 pairs or Boars and they are settled as no sows in this house. Lol.

You could take them dating at a rescue and they can then both choose who they would like to join their little herd.

at the end of the day individual personality matters more than anything else

Purely for your entertainment this is their personalities..

Him: Bossy, likes to throw his weight about and remind her he is the boss with lost of posturing. MUCH mounting because he just seems to adore her and can't keep his paws to himself.

Her: pretends to hate all this mounting business but popcorns around him when he starts a rumble strut, entices him to chase her and then chases him off when he gets too close to his goal..once he gives up she runs back to him wheeking at him and waggling her bum in his face and the cycle continues. I'm sure she likes to tease him!

They both bring each other pieces of veg and lay it in front of the other which is really sweet. Oh and they hate to be parted for more than 5mins or there is a "calling to one another" chorus which is very very loud!

So yes two crazy pigs who will probably find even more happiness with a 3rd even more nutty one!

I have a boar with five sows.Started with three then rescued another from a bad situation, got a boat from pets at home adoption and got him neutered, took on a baby then added the neutered boar. All hunky dory fine and I think they helped her over her still birth. If you have more than two you don't have the single piggy on their own if anything happens .

Keep us posted if you do add another to the bunch @madguinealady has a point because when my dove suddenly passed last month it was so much added stress and struggle knowing I had a single piggy.
2 of my 3 even got along it was just my Cookie Monster that caused trouble until I rescued my new lil girl

I had to buy a baby to keep pebbles from getting I'll when fizzy pop died. She wouldn't accept any of the two rescue pigs I tried her with but took to the baby (poppy-rose) Am convinced it saved pebbles
