I would like a c&c cage but I also want to adopt some piggies from a rescue. I have a boar who I am going to get neutered as soon as possible. Would it work to make one big cage and separate off my boar from the sows, with grids, put things along the grids, hay rack, tpts etc. so he can still see and interact with them, or could he possibly be a sneaky bugger and end up getting the sows pregnant. Id obviously rather just have the one big cage but if there is the slightest chance he can get up to mischief, ill have to leave the c&c until a later date and have two separate cages until he's been done and all is safe. just curious really

Personally I would wait until he was neutered & then give him a few weeks to recover in case he gets too excited chatting up the girlies between the bars :)) He could pull his stitches or something :(

Once he's neutered & he is past the "unsafe" period I would put him in a cage next door so he can see but not touch for a few days first, then bath them all & introduce in a neutral territory & wash & clean everything in their cage before putting them all together.

Please check how long after the op he will be safe though, unless you can accommodate loads of extra mouths to feed rolleyes

Hopefully someone who knows will be able to tell you how long he must be kept separate for.

You can have them seperated, but the best thing to do would be put something up so he cant see the sows untill after he has healed propperly. This is because all the "excitement" can cause him to reopen the injury. However if he couldnt see them i dont see that this would be an issue, and you could make a big cage and divide it up.

6 weeks is the recomended period they should be seperate after neutering.
