Would this be okay for a C&C cage?

I am having difficulty tracking down the wire grids used for C&C cages. I have come across some interlocking cubes that look like this:

Will these be okay to use to make a C&C cage?

Thanks,
Jess.

Oooo where's that from?

I assume it's ok, i've been looking into making a C&C and someone said frosted one's are fine as long as there's no roof with them, and a hole will need to be made for a bottle

There are some on Amazon. The only problem it that they are smaller than the usual grids used, so maybe I'd have to have 2 high on the sides.

I've seen before that apparently these aren't quite the right shape/size and don't make the best of cages and although some people do use them, i know some have sent them back, i personally haven't bought them though so wouldn't know (:

I've got one pack of the 14 inch (blue) ones and have them set up in a 3 x 3 square using a tarpaulin as a base and it's been absolutely fine for my two boars. I have had to use cable ties on some points as there isn't enough connecters and as someone else pointed out you either need to make a hole for a water bottle or suspend the bottle on the inside of the cage but that isn't really too much of an issue. I've used a table as a hayloft but you'd need to get two packs if you wanted to make one with the grids and you need to use something as a support for it as well.

Do you have a picture of your cage?

Doing this on my phone so it's stupidly tedious, sorry if the pics come out huge. My cage does have some questionable things about it, aside from not being so glamourous, it would probably be reccommended to put sides on the ramp and around the edge of the shelf but I've found the pigs jump up and down without issue and half the time don't bother with the ramp. It is possible for them to be injured in short falls though, I think if it was any higher I would make sure it was secure.

The hay trays, racks and ramp are fastened in place with stick on Velcro and the water bottles hung inside the cage with cable ties and twisty ties to holds them in place.

The plastic box full of chopped cardboard on top of the table is the bottom half of my gerbils RUB/bin cage, in case you wondered. :)

If you can find/ get thicker correx you could do a cage without the cubes. I used to have a C&C cage but got really fed up with the cubes (I've had them on a slightly uneven surface) so got thicker correx and ditched the cubes so now just have a C cage :)).

I have some for sale and I'm from Cannock! I have a listing in the sale section :(|)

This is great as it has sent me searching for the same here in OZ and I found ebay au has similar. Only frosted white available. But each section is 38 x 38 x 38 cm and for approx $75AUD (includes postage) I got 38 sections. This will be a huge cage!

The wire grids are just very scarce here. Found only 1 supplier. To get 38 grids would cost me $111.76 plus time & petrol to get to the shop. And each grid is 35 x 35 x 35, so not quite as large. Plus the grids are plastic coated and my boys are chewers.

I have gotten so many great ideas from this site. Not to mention actual piggy products I keep ordering from the UK when I can't find it here but can afford to get it from over there!

Thanks for all of the suggestions and links :) I am buying some off piggypig as she is selling her spares.
I did find this link for some that are like the original picture I posted. They look pretty good, and starting bid is only £14.99 with £4.99 p&p. No-one has bid on it yet:

There are also these red mesh ones for sale and they sell extra panels and connectors seperately:

Hope this can be of some help to people in the UK.
Jess

Ditch the cubes -get thicker correx

We have also gone without the cubes and got thicker correx - it was cheaper and so much easier as we could just make the correx as big as we wanted, no fussy measuring to make sure they all fit.
You can get great thick correx style stuff delivered for about £20 and a roll of duck tape and it's all done. We got ours from Protec http://www.protection.co.uk/products/proplex-5mm-recycled-plastic-sheeting/ and it's doing great - very sturdy.

Oooo that sounds like a brilliant idea, have you got a picture, it would certainly save the bar chewers!

Piggiepigpigs on Youtube has cages just made out of correx. Have a look at her channel for an idea of how they look :)
