I'm looking to go away for a week's holiday to a cottage in Scotland sometime soon. I want to take the piggies with me but I don't have a huge car so there's no way I could fit their C&C cages in.

So I was thinking about buying some large pens, such as these:

They'd only be in these for a week at the most. I'd line them with towels and fleece on top and set them up like their cages.

What do you think? Would this be ok?

I think they would be fine. We often travel back to Nottingham at weekends and take the piggies with us. Their hutch is way to big to fit in to the car so they have another hutch at my parents house. Fair enough, it is way to small for 4 piggies but it does them for a few days :)

Thanks.

There'd be two piggies (Patch and Sneezy) in one, then Fry would have his own and so would Nibbler.

That's a relief then as I couldn't think how on earth I was going to fit luggage, cages, travel carriers and us into my Volkswagen Polo!

Better get saving up for these pens then :p

If you have enough grids left from making your C&C, you can zip tie them together loosely (so they can fold). Use plastic shower curtain or tarp to line the bottom.

Unfortunately I don't have enough left to make three decent sized cages, otherwise I would do this.

I'm sure they will be fine, can't see the links as on my phone but when Monty comes with us we have swapped the estate for a Golf Plus so he has to go in a smaller cage for the week (Monty does not move about much now so is fine) but I always make a temp run for him either by taking grids or fencing off an area. I take a plastic sheet and towels/fleece to protect any flooring in holiday homes. I have now got a fold down canvas carry bag that is useful on the journeys if we stop for lunch he comes with us! I guess I could downsize more if ever needed by getting one of those fold down puppy play pens to use as a holiday house.

I can't fit a larger cage on the back seat as I have to squeeze in too:))

I have to take the others to the small pets hotel nearby, parents will not buy or hire a minibus:))

Ah can see the links now home - those look a great idea - that is what I had wondered about, instead of taking a smaller cage I could get one of those for Monty for holiday's - then in the car he could go in his carry bag where he might feel more secure on the journey.

I wonder how easy they are to get folded back down after use?

Good idea that:)

Those pens are so cute looking! x) I think they would be perfectly fine for a week--when I first got my piggies I put them in a large plastic bin with bedding, a hut, food, and water and they seemed fine as long as we took them out every day. Happy travels to you and your piggies! xx>>>

We've got a smaller version for when we're cleaning out the cages and it's brilliant. Really easy to fold down. The bottom is detachable and can be washed. It's good value for money.

We're going to save up and buy three of them, as well as saving up to go away for a week, we're thinking it's probably going to have to be next June.

Me being the loser that I am was telling Patch all about the plans and how he'll be going on holiday with us whilst I was giving him his medicine. Lol.
