Would love to order NOW. Will this C&c be suitable?

Hi everyone!

My partner finally said I can go ahead and order the pigs a new cage :D
I’m so excited, as I’ve been wanting one for so long .. we shouldn’t really be spending this sort of money at the moment.. so I just want to order it now before I think sensibly and decide not to lol!

So I have 4 pigs, 1 neutered boar and 3 girlies. I was going to get a 2x5 but decided bigger.. so 2x6 with 2x2 loft, does anyone know what 2x6 is in centimetres please? My cage at the moment it 240cm x 60 but it’s divided in the middle with a ramp.

I have 2 boars who are 8 months old and they are currently in a 2x5 C&C cage as they are getting bigger I am going to expand to a 2x6 so I would suggest go as big as you can so that they have plenty of room.

I made my own C&C cage I ordered the grids and correx from amazon the whole lot cost me £60 and I have spare grids so I can expand.

If you go onto amazon and search wire grid storage rack this will bring up the grids and the connectors as this is what a C&C cage is made off I also got a huge sheet of correx from amazon for £15 which is so easy to cut.

If you make your own then you can go as big as you want plus you can design your own cage.

You could add the loft at floor level and cut a doorway in the correx, and make a walk-in hay room? My lot love a walk-in hay room! You could always go L-shaped, with the loft bit on the side, if you dont quite have the space... but actually both the cage you have now and a 2x6 are big enough for 4 piggies!

If you wanted to go bigger you could always contact the company and ask if it's possible for them to do a bespoke cage. They probably don't list any bigger ones as they might not be able to sell them

Thanks so much for your help everyone! Now I’m in a conundrum about what to do :hmm: I probably should just stick to what I have ( they do also get about 3-4hrs floortime a day too). But I just don’t find it enough room to put big hideys in or their tunnels without taking up too much floor space, they have a little upstairs level which they love so definitely want an upstairs if I do get a C&C.
The c&c is slightly wider which would be better too. Also if I do feel I want it bigger I could just order a few more grids and make an L shape later on if I feel necessary?
I’m trying to justify my reasons :))

I’ve been looking on amazon for so long to find the correct grids but the only ones on amazon Australia seem to have only 7 or 8 squares in the single grid which I’ve heard could be dangerous? And any that are suitable are well over $100 bucks anyway.
So the one on guinea pigs Australia website that I want works out about £155 pounds, so that isn’t too bad really?

Thank you! The biggest on that website they do is the cage I posted (2x6 with 2x2 loft). So I thought it would be huge and big enough, but now I’m worried it won’t be?
The reason for this is most likely the correx (corflute).
I had a similar question when I was buying our C&C, and the advertised sizes were becasue this took into account the package size to accommodate the corflute, which is actually the trickiest part to ship becasue they try not to fold it too much.
If you have space and can go to 8 x 2 then contact them and ask if their will ship you 2 lots of 2x 4 corflute for the base of the cage, and then you can join them together with duct tape - that's how I ended up getting correx big enough for our cage.
Mine looks awful underneath, but once you pop a liner on top it doesn't matter at all.

Thanks so much, I didn’t think of that!
I will measure up how much room I have for the cage in the morning and see if an 8x2 will fit. Not sure if I’d be able to afford that size.. but I’ll see!

I have 3 sows and 1 boar living in a 6x2 with a 3x2 L shaped extension

Your piggies will love the space to live in.
Pictures please when it’s all set up

Did you try candcguineapigcages.co.uk ? I think our 6x2 with loft worked out just over £100

I guess you could always ask for the price of the grids & correx separately?

Do you have a big DIY store or sign manufacturer anywhere near you? Perhaps the correx would be cheaper to buy locally if you do.
The wire grids shouldn't be too expensive delivered on there own should they?

The 9 hole grids are meant to be safest, as the Guineas can't get their heads stuck in the smaller holes (especially baby or juvenile Guineas).

I would say, if you want the C&C cage, just get the cage :) the extra bit of width vs standard cages makes a lot of difference for having lots of hideys and enough room for zooming piggies, and its much easier to give treats and ear tickles and chin rubs with the open top! You can always adapt it later, change the layout, add an extension... we started with a 5x2 with a loft and now it also has two 3x2 extensions!
