hello everyone ! currently i have my 2 boars in a c&c cage (seperated by mesh due to fighting !) my 2 sows are in an outdoor hutch with attached run. my plan ultimatley, is when the boys are old enough they will be neutered and put with a sow each but they are too young as yet. they will be housed in a c&c cage together and the hutch will be redundant. however, i would ideally like the girls indoors now in their own c&c cage rather than outdoors. my question is will this disrupt either the boys or the girls if i were to make the girls a c&c cage in the same room as the boys ? would it drive them mad not being able to get at each other but sensing that they are there ? dont want to ruin what could be happy families !:(|)

Sight and sound are okay, but scent would be disruptive. So as long as the girls are far enough away that the boys can't smell them, they can be in the same room. I guess a foot or so?

so having the girls cage above the boys cage would be no good ? was just trying to save on space really. what would happen behaviour wise if they could smell them ? thanks :)

Mine are all mixed up with no problems at all. I do have a double hutch that I use for fosters, but I always make sure that it's lads on top, then if any shavings etc should waft down the girls underneath are not interested. Mine all play out in the garden together too in cage tops with no problem, sometimes if one of the lads looks particularly interested then I will drape a blanket in between them. xx
