My piggies are kept outside. At the moment at night they get covered with two blankets and one of those insulated covers from Pets at home.

There is supposed to be a big storm hitting on Monday (like the one in 87) and I'm worried about them being out in it!

Could I put them in a used garage for a few days? Its the only thing I can do other than leaving them out...

If you put them in a used garage I am afraid you will not be able to have any used cars in there. Exhaust fumes can be fatal.

Could you not bring them indoors overnight if the weather gets too bad? Even a cat carrier or large box will do.

Could you keep them in a cardboard box or carrier indoors for a day or two until the worst is over? You can still bring the hutch into the garage for safekeeping.

If it's as bad as they say it's going to be, I'd bring them inside the house until it blows over. If you can't do that then the garage should be OK if cars are driven in forward & reversed out but if the car is reversed in & driven out forward then there'll be fumes. The engine shouldn't be started till the doors are open.

Definitely can't bring them in. Can't have in my room as my sister is "allergic" and my parents hate animals so don't want them in the rest of the house and I couldn't leave them unsupervised in it as I know a door will be "accidentally" left open. *sigh* I guess I might have to get them rehoused after all as it just isn't working out.

Thanks everyone :)

I'm really sorry that things are not working out for you. Do you have a friend who would look after them for you for a couple of nights?

Where do you live? Because the weather forecast is saying that its the South that is going to get the worst - here in the East Midlands no one seems very concerned but I am keeping my horse in the stable anyway - he gets easily spooked in the wind when in the field. x

Feel so sorry for you.If you were near me I would have them in mine cos we have loads of animals anyway.Do you not know anyone near that would take them in for a couple of days

Thanks again everyone. My parents have semi compromised and I have moved the hutch by were we store our firewood. It has a strong plastic roof over it plus three blankets, a duvet and a proper hutch cover (which ive secure with stretchy bungee cord things- the ones you use to secure things on a roof rack) plus they will have lots of hay and bedding in with them. Probably be cosier than I will be! ;)
