Ok so the latest wea ther forecast is saying freezing conditions over the next couple of nights are going to dip even colder to -15 degrees.

I do not know what to do...
I have three girls sharing one hutch so I'm sure they'll snuggle up but am still worried I have a loan boar who is allergic to hay so he's got paper bedding so he will be cold.

Any suggestions or ideas?

I take it your piggies are outside? Do you have protection on your hutch e.g. hutch insulation, wind / rain cover? Do you use snuggle safe heat pads and cosies etc to keep them warm?

If the answer to these questions is yes and your girls have plenty of fresh hay, they will probably be OK. Do you have the option of bringing them indoors?

Hay is very good at keeping piggies warm as they can snuggle down in to it.

Can you provide your boar with the things mentioned above (obviously not the hay if he is allergic)?

bring the boar in or get a small indoor run made so he can keep warm, Don't worry chicken X in the desert it's colder! X but they do have other members of family to keep warm! X

Yea they have carpets and blankets over and are between sheds with a roof and tarpaulin

Girls have hay but my boar not
What are the snuggle safe heat pads.

I am considering bringing my boar in but I know guinea pigs are sensitive to temperature change.

goodness, minus 15!

I use cardboard boxes in my shed. The boxes fruit and veg come in are great at trapping the heat. I use them as houses. These boxes are barely higher then the guinea pigs, and the widths vary so you can get them from the local shops to suit any size of hutch. My piggies love them. Free too!

Wrap a wide strip of thick cardboard around your water bottles, hold in place with an elastic band / hair bobble.

Use cardboard to line your hutches, and block drafts.

All shops have to pay to dispose of their cardboard, so are happy to give it away free, from corner shops, to greengrocers, to asda.
