Hello,

I am worried Henry is being left out.

Where ever Sophie goes Honey follows, if Sophie comes out of the cage so does Honey, although Hon will stay out (under a stool) once Sophie has gone back. Henry stays in the cage.

When ever I move the three of them - so say on the bed for brushing or sitting in the bath whilst I clean out the cage Henry ALWAYS grumbles and rumbles at the girls - I thought it was me he was moaning at but watching them in their new set up he is moaning at the girls when they jump back into the cage or go near him.

Henry doesn't really come out of the cage, he can jump in and out but only comes out if I put him out and even then he stays away from the girls. In fact the girls sit apart a lot too aside from the intial following. No one snuggles with anyone. In the cage they all sleep in seperate corners.

And Henry is always alone :(

Is this ok? Is it normal?

I am especially worried that when Sophie is at the vets on Friday and her subsequent return this will mess with the hierarchy. Sophie is the top piggie........

In fact the only time they snuggled was when they were terrified at the vets. The vet actually thought there were only two piggies in the carrier they were tightly bunched up.

thanks

xx

Boars always rumble at girls - sometimes, I think they haven't got much other vocabulary... mallethead I wouldn't worry too much as Henry is doing this by his own choice. Hywel still does very much his own thing, and so did his predecessor Llewelyn. Could you put more open hideys out and sprinkle some finely chopped veg treats around to encourage Henry out? Not every boar is a great snuggle upper, you know.

There will certainly be a reaffirmation of the hierarchy in the way of welcoming back a top piggy after Sophie's return, but only a longer absence with really affect the hierarchy.

Wishing Sophie all the best for her vet trip. If it is just for a consultation, I would recommend taking all three together - it is less stressful that a separation. I always take at least one paw holding companion to the vets, or in the case of a trio, all three.
