I think it's the fab opportunity for him O0 but I do understand why you would worry though. I suppose at the end of the day we can't let it worry us even thought it does :-\

I don't know anyone who works there.

My friends husband works at Canary Wharf and has been there for about 18 months now with no problems. They haven't moved to London though and still live in Rugby. He takes the train each morning at 6 am and doesn't get home til at least 7.45 pm and sometimes its been midnight which makes for an incredibly long day. They have looked into moving closer but house prices are so much higher than here. However, I think they will eventually have to move.

You can certainly earn good money there so it would be a great opportunity for him! O0

I think where-ever you go that's a main city there's a worry - we have had bomb scares in Birmingham on and off for decades. It's gone quiet lately but even as recently as a few years ago there were still major bomb scares, and even this year (or late last year, I can't remember :-\) there was a big security scare in the NIA and loads of places got evacuated. It is a worry, My OH works in the City Centre but you can't let terrorism rule your life as so many good opportunities would be missed :)

Very true! I dont think id want to live in London, I would probably make him train it to work ;D

It just worries me :(

I don't think i'd want to live in London either - far too busy and overpriced. If it happened to us I think I would live on the outskirts somewhere and have him commute in on the train or something ;D Makes n o odds to me, I don't work (I know - i'm all me,me,me ;D)

I dont like cities,I prefer the countryside

cities are full of crappy fumes ,I cant stand nottingham for that reason( and various other reasons too),and theyre way overcrowded

I love living and working in London most of the time

Its a beautiful and vibrant city

I prefer the countryside, especially if we get pregnant...I wouldnt like to bring a child up in a busy town...

The OH just said they are keen on him relocating to NY...oh good god....be supportive, be supportive, be supportive.. :(

NY?

aww hell :(

Hmmm. I suppose it's the same for you as us then - if my OH's job was to relocate we'd have to go really even if I wasn't over keen as his is the only wage - and it's a good one and they're not that easy to come by anymore. Sometimes you just have to bit the bullet and do it though I suppose, I would miss my family though you can't exactly just jump in the car and travel a few hours from there :-\ Still, I think could warm to the idea of America if it happened to us although it might take a while :-\ Like you say, you have no choice but to be supportive - make sure you voice any concerns though (I'm sure you will as like us you seem to have a good relationship and can talk anything through properly :)) He loves you as much as you love him remember :smitten:

I used to work near there and and it probably as safe as anywhere else, but I hated the place as it is just concrete and more concrete. I think a good idea is for you both to visit the place for the day to get a feel of it. If you are going to live there it is important to know if you will be happy there. It is all apartments (very nice ones) but hideously expensive and the place is just so impersonal. Good thing is rail links to Canary Wharf are fab so you could live in a London suburb and he could commute. I used to travel from Southfields (near Wimbledon tennis courts) and it took a little over an hour.

I wish my OH would relocate to Australia,I would give anything to move there
