Hey guys you might remember me writing a thread about a week ago about getting a new cage, well its arrived! Its 2x4ft and 2 tier and was up to my sholders with the top wiring bit on so ive took it off and keeping it like this! Then i can stroke them and things and I'm certain they wont jump out So here it is atm:

I have blocked the bottom tier off as I'm waiting for payday to get a tunnel for the ramp. I couldnt wait any longer to put it up! Where the tent is thats only temporary as somewhere for them to go and hide, its resting on one of the wooden platforms that came with it.

Me nd my grandad made sides for ALL the wooden platforms and ALL the ramps today but i havnt put them in yet i need a rest lol i will update with pics when i do so they will be quite safe. just i dont think they will use the ramp without a tunnel yet.
So here is the bottom tier without the sides on the platforms and ramps: (sorry not great pics its hard to get a good one!)

Will using carpet on the 2 small ramps be good for grip or will it have to be....grippier(?) then carpet? And where can i get like velcro stuff from that i would be able to stick the carpet (or whatever i end up using) to the ramp?

I just have a MAJOR question about using fleece. Ive always been a woodshavigs user so i thought id give fleece a go the problem is ive only had my 2 boys in it for 2 days and its minging!
The pee doesnt sift through the fleece to the 2 towls underneath straight away and its obv quite yellow n makes the cage look really dirty. Plus they poop everywhere not just in one place! Obv I'm expecting that but everybodys on here look in amazing condition. I keep brushing the poops out and stuff and dabbing the pee with loo roll as often as i can.
I didnt wash the fleece or towls before i used them as i forgot do you think this is the reason? And will they get more absorbant over time?
and is there any way to toilet train them? They are 2 and a half year old lads.

Here is a pic of the (was) lovely fleece its nice and fluffy (but not REALLY fluffy!)

And here it is now after today, last night and yesterday with the 2 in it:

That's a lovely big cage and the sides on the ramp are a great way to make it safe for your piggies.

You need to wash your fleece a couple of times (don't use fabric conditioner) to get them ready otherwise the wee will sit on top (although I think you've discovered this already :) ).
You'll need to do a quick poop scoop once or twice a day to keep on top of things. I use a cat litter scoop and turn it over to use like a rake. It only takes a couple of minutes.
You can buy sticky velcro by the metre from fabric shops or on ebay.

p.s. the big secret as to why people's fleeces always look so nice and tidy is that we only take photos when we've just changed the cages. :(|)

:(|) but one poopie always seems to get in on the act though :(|)

I've recently switch to fleece and love it. A few washes should solve your problem. Should be 100% polyester. I only need to change once a week but do daily poop scoops with dustpan and brush. Also have hayloft which gets full change midweek.

What a lovely cage! So spacious and gorgeous fleece too. As the others have said I'd wash the fleece twice before use and too litter train your boys...well what i did with mine is use a corner they seem to like using a loo area and place all the scooped poops in this area eventually my boys became used to this area as their loo area and still a year on use that area as their loo, though there is a few stray poops now and then :)

Cheers for your replies :)

I have a litter type thing in there as you can see from the pics but they aint interested, the pee next to it haha!

On the website i got the fleece off it says "printed polyester coral fleece" coral refferring to the fluffiness of it. I dont know if its 100% polyester as it doesnt say! Oooops!

Looking brilliant! Don't think i can add much to the advice you already have! Only thing i would maybe consider is the top part where the bed is...i may have looked at it wrong but i'd be worried if they pushed the bed off the edge...or managed to get out of the bed and onto the top shelf as they could fall. You could put some of your wooden bits around the edges maybe? Bet your boys are loving it! xx>>>
