Please help me. I have a wooden cage with guinea pigs. I used real, not store bought sawdust for them and it looks like that some wood worms came along with it. Of course I killed a few but I know that there are others hiding in small places that I can't reach. Is there any way anybody had this issue before and can help me advise how to get rid of them? Maybe some fluid to kill them that won't harm my piggies? It's their home. The wood is spruce.
Thank you!

You need to give your cage a thorough deep clean with vet grade disinfectant like F10.

Hi. I can't advise re getting rid of the woodworm, sorry, however are you sure that's what they are? It's unusual to actually see them as worms which are actually larvae which live inside the wood and it's only when they hatch that they burrow a hole out as beetles. (I've got them in my loft just now, so I've been reading up).
Sawdust is not good for piggies, so it would be best to change the type of bedding.
Good luck, I hope you get it fixed.

Thank you both for your answers.
As Reenie pointed out, they aren't really wood worms. I read about them and they are actually styrofoam worms. They came along with the sawdust. Thank god :)
I use fleece bedding for a year now and I love it. I just wanted to try out a new type of bedding. It'll be fleece forever.

Thank you both for your answers :)
